This Christmas, our hearts carry a bittersweet ache as we reflect on the children who should be here laughing and celebrating with their families but are no longer physically present. Our hearts are with everyone who has an empty spot at their table during this holiday season.

Had it not been for researchers, Eve wouldn’t still be fighting 33 months later.
We’re investing in the University of New South Wales to develop a new treatment to target DIPG and give hope to families like Eve’s.

DIPG is a type of malignant brain tumour, and one of the most aggressive of all childhood cancers.
There’s no known cure or treatment options. Angie’s daughter Eve was diagnosed in March 2021 and given 12 months to live.

Appreciate the coverage but it is 20-25% of all childhood death from cancer not just brain cancer #DIPG #DMG.
Minister @Mark_Butler_MP we need trials but effective trials based on fundamental RESEARCH, trials that have the greatest likelihood of success, >250 trials have failed!
Heartbroken parents who have lost children to a rare form of cancer are lobbying for federal government help. Despite accounting for a quarter of all childhood brain cancer deaths, virtually no money is being spent on research. 7NEWS at 6pm | 7NEWS.com.au #7NEWS

Productive meetings at Parliament today advocating for federal #DIPG #DMG RESEARCH funding to help achieve >2-yrs OS. An unacceptable statistic, but >2x better than now; biggest unmet clinical need!
Tx for your support @AussieDIPG @AustralianLabor @Mark_Butler_MP we can do this!!

Very much enjoyed hosting DIPG research wizard @duchatel_ryan from @MattDun17 lab this week. He was able to get some mouse IUE training from @KoschmannLab and Tim Phoenix. He joined us on rounds at @MottChildren - he’s off today, hopefully filled with some new skills and ideas!

Patients diagnosed with the most common driver mutation in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) – FLT3, are associated with poor-outcomes.
FLT3+ AML sees the overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS), a second messenger signaling (T1)
