The historical multi-layered historic building is located in the Fatih district of Istanbul (formerly Constantinople), Türkiye 🇹🇷 Constantinople, one of the most historically significant cities in the world, is renowned for its extraordinary architectural heritage, shaped by Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman civilization. In the historic district of Cağaloğlu, within the Fatih district of modern-day Istanbul, a remarkable building illustrates how different periods of the city’s past can appear together within a single structure. The building is particularly striking because its façade appears to contain several distinct architectural layers, ranging from ancient masonry and arched openings to the more recent upper floors. It is widely described as combining elements associated with the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Ottoman Empire and the Turkish Republican era, offering a fascinating visual representation of the city’s long and complex history. The lower sections feature weathered stonework, brick arches and columns that appear considerably older than the residential structure rising above them. These architectural remains demonstrate how buildings in historic cities were frequently constructed over existing foundations or incorporated into earlier structures. Throughout Constantinople’s history, older walls, columns and other building materials were often reused as urban areas expanded and buildings were adapted to changing needs. The Byzantine period is particularly important to understanding the architectural landscape of Constantinople. Founded as Byzantium in antiquity, the city was transformed into Constantinople by Emperor Constantine the Great, who inaugurated it as his imperial capital in AD 330. For more than a thousand years, Constantinople served as the political, religious and cultural center of the Byzantine Empire. Its landscape was shaped by monumental churches, defensive walls, palaces, cisterns, monasteries and extensive public infrastructure. The use of brick arches and stone masonry visible in historic structures across the city reflects construction traditions that developed and evolved over many centuries. However, identifying a particular wall or arch as Roman or Byzantine requires detailed architectural and archaeological examination. Similar materials and building techniques continued to be used across different periods, making it difficult to establish precise dates from appearance alone. Following the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople in 1453, city entered another major period of transformation. Ottoman rulers renovated existing buildings, adapted earlier structures for new purposes and developed new neighborhoods, religious complexes, markets and residential areas. Rather than replacing every trace of Byzantine city, Ottoman Constantinople incorporated parts of its existing urban fabric. Ancient and medieval remains consequently became part of a continuously evolving city. The upper portion of the building in Cağaloğlu presents a different architectural character, with plastered walls, rectangular windows and features associated with more recent residential construction. These elements are consistent with the kind of modifications that historic buildings in Constantinople underwent as the city modernized. During the late Ottoman period and Republican era following the establishment of Republic of Turkey in 1923, many older properties were altered to accommodate changing architectural preferences and urban requirements. Despite its striking appearance, the building’s exact construction history remains uncertain. Familiar labels assigning different sections to four historical periods should therefore be treated as an interpretation rather than a fully established archaeological chronology. Without a detailed architectural survey, historical documentation or archaeological investigation, it is not possible to determine precisely when each section was built or modified. #archaeohistories

In 1924, Hachiko, an Akita Inu, came to Tokyo with his owner, Professor Hidesaburo Ueno of the University of Tokyo. Every morning, Hachiko walked with him to Shibuya Station, and every afternoon he returned to meet him after work. But in May 1925, Professor Ueno died suddenly and never came home. Hachiko was taken in by another family, but he continued returning to Shibuya Station, waiting for the man he loved. For almost 10 years, he came back again and again — through rain, snow, and countless ordinary days. Hachiko died in 1935. By then, his story had become known throughout Japan, and a bronze statue was erected at Shibuya Station in 1934, while Hachiko was still alive. Today, the statue remains one of Tokyo’s most recognizable landmarks — a quiet reminder of a dog who simply kept waiting for the person he loved. ❤️

Never forget that our own government orchestrated a mass casualty false flag event on American soil, blamed it on foreigners and sent our brothers to war on a false premise. Thousands of American lives lost, trillions of dollars spent, all to help Israel.

SONY is sending out emails updating and reminding people of their PlayStation terms. short version what it says: - You don't own your digital games, you rent a license - If a account closed or banned your games are gone, even paid ones - PlayStation can record your chats, clips, ip address - Clips you share, they can sell and put ads on and you get no cut - their liability is capped at £100! This means if Sony screws something up and it costs you money, the most they'll pay you back is £100, no matter how much you actually lost

The world premiere of the Batman movie (starring Adam West and Burt Ward) at the Paramount theater in Austin, 1966. I think I first saw this movie in about 1972 and thought it was fantastic. Then I saw it about 10 years later and thought "what was I thinking? It's dumb! That scene with Batman running around with the bomb? Come on!" But now I realize that it was MEANT to be campy fun, and it succeeds on that level. Photo by Neal Douglass and courtesy the Austin History Center at the @AustinPublicLib

Wow. Hunter Biden, who knew Lindsey Graham for decades as a close family friend, not only outs him as gay - but says Washington is ran by a “mafia” of closeted gay Republicans. This tracks.
