For many people this time of year, "the words of depression are ho ho ho" (with apologies to Caribbean Time by Nellie McKay)
Didn't feel the last earthquake, I was taking a shower. It did stop one of the grandfather clocks...
Ten year anniversary, more or less, of my retirement. Celebrated with dinner at Sammy's. Delicious salmon chowder...
Felt 7.2 E-Quake yesterday; it stopped our grandfather clocks and made the chandelier chime and sway. No damge, but almost scary.
Finally saw Avatar (in 3d) yesterday. Gorgeous visuals, better story than I expected. So so but adequate acting; definitely worth seeing.
7 fire dept. vehicles. High drama/Dinner and a Show/smoked turkey, etc. Everyone remained very calm throughout, surprisingly little damage
Spent a couple of hours or so outside while ~2 dozen firepersons turned off power/gas, knocked down the chimney & put out the fire.
Had an "interesting" T-day dinner with cousins in Riverside Co.; halfway through the meal, found out the chimney was on fire.
Little known fact: 4 ball of whacks can be used to construct a hollow disdyakis triacontrahedron, a polyhedron with 120 triangular sides.
Last Thursday we all (incl sister & husband) drove up to see the LA Natural History museum; I spent 3-4 hours looking @ mineral exhibit...

Had one of those nights/mornings that makes you wonder why you ever bothered to sleep. Then ~7:20am shit quite literally hit the fan...
Went to Whittier yesterday to meet various relatives; about 3 hours on the road, for a round trip of about 162 miles, pretty fast.
Joked that if I had a cake, I could have put an 'L' shaped candle on it; the roman symbol for 50, not 'loser'...
Today is my 50th birthday; spent quietly, but I did see Wolverine: Origins in the theater this morning.
