Visit-to-checkout lag is a spike welded to a tail. The spike is half your buyers and converts in hours. The tail is a fifth of your buyers, more than a quarter of your revenue, and mostly first-time customers moving at the speed of their category. Your store converts twice. Only one of those shows up in your dashboard. edgemesh.com/resources/purch…

Turn the curve into a multiplier: revenue inside a long window divided by revenue inside a short one. Pooled across 25 stores and measured from first visit, 7 days is 1.21x day one, 28 days is 1.47x, 90 days is 1.74x, and the full curve is 2.02x. Divide the target you care about by the multiplier and you have the number a campaign must hit today. edgemesh.com/resources/purch…

Northbeam's data shows ad-to-purchase lag lengthening into Black Friday as shoppers see the ads and wait for the sale. We ran the visit-to-checkout clock over the same season at 21 stores. It held: 64% to 65% same-week in October, 68% in Black Friday week, 69% to 70% in early December. The two findings are consistent. The waiting happens between the ad and the visit. edgemesh.com/resources/purch…

Across stores, price predicts speed: the correlation between average order value and same-day share is −0.58. Inside a store, it disappears. Orders placed 1 to 12 weeks after first visit are worth 1.04 times same-week orders at the median store, and 22 of 25 stores sit between 0.95x and 1.15x. Pool the stores and the same ratio reads 1.24x. That is category mix, not buyer behavior. edgemesh.com/resources/purch…

Measured from first visit, 35% of checkouts and 40% of revenue arrive after the 7-day click window that Meta and TikTok default to. 23% of checkouts and 27% of revenue arrive after the 28 to 30 days Google Ads and GA4 use. 12% arrive after 90 days, the longest lookback any of them offer. edgemesh.com/resources/purch…

Across 25 stores and 1,214,190 checkouts, 49.8% of purchases happen on the day the shopper is first seen. 65% within a week. 12% take more than 90 days, and one in twelve comes from a shopper first seen more than seven months earlier. Half a spike, half a tail, and almost nobody at the average. edgemesh.com/resources/purch…

Half of ecommerce checkouts happen on the day the shopper first arrives. The other half arrive over the following year and carry more than a quarter of the revenue. New Edgemesh white paper, on 1,214,190 checkouts across 25 stores: how to measure the gap between first visit and checkout, what drives it, and why your attribution window cannot see it. edgemesh.com/resources/purch…

The bid you enter has always meant one thing: the conversion cost you are willing to pay. The auction needs that number whether you provide it or not. If you don't choose your bid, Meta will choose it for you: the one that spends your entire budget. edgemesh.com/resources/meta-…

Clearer names for two strategies: Cost per Result Goal behaves as an Average Cost Cap, and ROAS Goal behaves as a ROAS Floor. Each pins the same dial from a different direction, and each stops doing anything at all once the budget's own optimum takes over. edgemesh.com/resources/meta-…

At any moment, either your budget or your cap (or floor) sets your effective bid, never both. A cap above the bid max changes nothing: the outcome is identical to no cap at all. A budget behind a low cap goes partly unspent. One of your two numbers is always idle. edgemesh.com/resources/meta-…

2015: Automatic and Manual. 2017: both grouped under "Lowest Cost," which Meta's guide explains use discount pacing. 2019: Cost Cap joins Target Cost. 2026: Target Cost is retired and two value strategies arrive. Each rename looks cosmetic. The sequence reveals the machinery. edgemesh.com/resources/meta-…

In a simulated auction day, exactly one bid spends a $400 budget: $30.61, winning 672 of 1,000 slots at $12.26 per expected conversion. Below it, budget is left on the table. Above it, the budget runs out before the day does. Every pacing system is hunting that one number. edgemesh.com/resources/meta-…

Meta offers five bidding strategies: Highest Volume, Bid Cap, Cost per Result Goal, Highest Value, and ROAS Goal. A decade of primary sources and a simple auction simulation show they all run on one mechanism: a single multiplier applied to your bid. Our new white paper traces every rename since 2015 to show how the machine works. edgemesh.com/resources/meta-…

A long-term average says almost nothing about what a shopper is worth right now. Marginal Stage Value (MSV) moves by store, by week, and by platform. Averaging hides the movement; it does not remove it. edgemesh.com/resources/prici…

One rule for paid media: keep Cost Per Action (CPA) below Marginal Stage Value (MSV) at every stage, on every platform. With a 2x ROAS target at one store: pay up to $6.92 per engaged visitor, $54.51 per cart, $90.70 per started checkout. edgemesh.com/resources/prici…

Average time from first ad view to purchase: 6 to 12 days. The slowest 5% of buyers: two months or more. A 7-day window quietly hands those sales to "direct." The sales happened; the window just stopped counting. edgemesh.com/resources/prici…

The same engaged visitor is worth $1.88 at one store and $13.84 at another. Same quarter. Across 22 merchants the spread exceeds 17x in any single month. Industry benchmarks price nobody correctly. edgemesh.com/resources/prici…

Same store, one week apart: engagement value fell 70%, carts 39%, checkouts 33%. A promotion ended, an awareness surge arrived, and every stage repriced. If your bids didn't move that week, they were wrong twice. edgemesh.com/resources/prici…

Every stage of your funnel has a dollar value. Marginal Stage Value (MSV) = the probability a shopper buys x average order value. At one store: engaged visitor $13.84, cart $109.02, started checkout $181.40.
