Happy to share our new paper with Dr. El-Kassaby in Frontiers in Plant Science. Biologically informed SNP selection reduced genotyping requirements while maintaining effective genomic evaluation in forest trees.

This work also proposes a novel long-term decline index with moderate heritability and strong potential for application in tree breeding and adaptation screening.
By combining dendrochronological traits with pedigree-based structural equation modeling, it demonstrates that poor short-term resilience to drought is associated with long-term growth decline.
This study provides new insights into the genetic architecture of drought tolerance in lodgepole pine.
