A showroom with no shoplifting. Your order shows up within an hour (albeit via a conveyor belt that took forever.) Service Merchandise was a proto-Amazon and it was rad.
“We’re going to make a store that sells everything.” > Great. So people can take what they want to the register and pay for it? “No. They’re going to bring a little white ticket to the register and pay for it.” > Oh. Okay. Then the cashier gets whatever they bought and brings it to them? “No. Then they bring the receipt to another area and shows it to a second cashier.” > Ah. Nice. So the stuff is waiting for them by the time they get there? “No. Someone in the back will send it out using an elaborate conveyer belt system.”

I am excited for the newly unveiled Porsche 975 RSE, Porsche’s upcoming GEN4 Formula E race car! The numbers Weissach is pulling out of this thing are absolutely insane: permanent AWD pushing 804 HP (600 kW) in Attack Mode, 0–100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 1.8 seconds, a 208 mph (335 km/h) top speed, and a staggering 700 kW of dual-axle brake regen providing nearly half the energy for an entire race! Another exciting bit is that there's direct track-to-street technology transfer; the direct-stator oil cooling and software engineering they mastered here are feeding straight into Porsche's next-gen road cars including the new Cayenne electric. I hope this can convince more people that EVs aren't boring! 🏁⚡️ newsroom.porsche.com/en/2026…

Really cool use of Gen AI video to reconstruct what's thought to be Pelé's greatest goal that wasn't captured on film youtu.be/R-Yqes8AotY?t=408&i…

I suspect this was a glitch, but watching a commentary-free @FIAFormulaE race and hearing just the sounds of the race was actually kind of refreshing. therokuchannel.roku.com/watc…

To everyone screaming about the simulated manual transmission in the Porsche Taycan and Hyundai Ioniq 5N, there is now the Ferrari 12Cilindri Manuale. A V-12 with a ... simulated manual transmission. youtu.be/cnb1EcMjuo0 Which, if you think about it, isn't wholly different from the shift-by-wire in the Sega Ferrari F355 Challenge arcade!

Imagine telling someone in 1999… The year is 2026. The President is Donald Trump in his second non consecutive term. The richest man in the world is PayPal cofounder Elon Musk… but not because of fintech or Paypal. Because of rockets, electric cars, AI, satellites, brain chips and something called “Boring Company”. Apple is worth trillions but its main business isn’t computers… its selling glass rectangles everyone stares at for 9 hours a day. People don’t watch TV. They watch teenagers explain geopolitics, finance, and relationship advice in ~60 second videos. The biggest taxi company owns no taxis. The biggest hotel company owns no hotels. The most powerful media companies are social networks where everyone argues with strangers for free. Kids are making millions filming themselves playing video games. AI Robots write emails, code, legal memos, songs, essays, and breakup texts. The internet is mostly bots arguing with humans who are trying to prove they aren’t bots. You can summon a car, groceries, a doctor, a date, a private jet, or a dog walker from your phone. People pay real money for invisible currencies, digital monkeys, AI girlfriends and pictures that disappear after 24 hours. The richest companies in the world don’t sell oil, steel, or cars. They sell attention, compute, data, and addiction. And somehow, after all of that everyone is still using Excel.

The World Cup has turned America into a discovery channel for the rest of the world. And they are not handling it well. In the best possible way. Here is what they are discovering: Free public restrooms. Europeans pay every time. Free water at every restaurant. Just appears. Free refills. Coffee. Sodas. Iced tea. Unlimited. Free chips and salsa before you even order. Free warm bread with dinner. Ice in drinks like civilized people. Air conditioning everywhere. Not a moral debate. A fact. Parking lots attached to the actual place you are going. Drive throughs where the food comes to the car while you sit in it. Ranch dressing by the gallon. Tex-Mex that cannot be explained only experienced. Dental care that actually works. Buccee’s. There are no words for Buccee’s. Then they found the grocery stores. Five of them within one mile. Each one the size of an aircraft hangar. Burgers. Steaks. Brisket. Ribs. Pulled pork. Lamb. Veal. Every cut of every animal ever domesticated by human civilization available in one refrigerated aisle at ten in the morning on a Tuesday. The Germans stood in the meat section for forty five minutes. In silence. Processing. They finally understand why we do not have trains. We have roads wide enough for the cars we actually drive. Parking lots the size of small European countries. Airports in every city worth visiting. Why would we need trains. The Germans are taking ranch home by the bottle. The Dutch found queso and briefly lost the ability to speak. The Japanese are photographing HEB like it is the Louvre. The Czechs are weeping in West, Texas. Welcome to America. Everything is free, enormous, air conditioned, comes with chips, and has five grocery stores within a mile that will sell you any cut of any animal you have ever imagined. Write that down. 🦋
