Back in 2002 England fans were given advice to hide their tattoos as in Japan only gangsters have them xitter.cf/cremieuxrecueil/status…
One thing I've noticed in Japan is that no one has tattoos. I thought I might've been missing something, but no, there really aren't that many tattoos.

Funny case in 2018 when someone posted a picture of an elderly man in Thailand with lots of interesting tattoos. The photo went viral, and someone in the Japanese police spotted it theguardian.com/world/2018/j…

A nearly 4% rise in the youth minimum wage. Disastrous xitter.cf/PolitlcsUK/status/2114…
Replying to @PolitlcsUK
However, Healey will bring an end to the sharp pay rises for 18 to 20-year-olds in recent years, with their rate increasing only from £10.85 to around £11.27, despite Labour’s manifesto pledge to scrap "discriminatory" age bands The exact rates will be announced tomorrow

This keeps on happening. It's a shame that, aside from Orban's Hungary and sometimes France, no western country shows much interest in the persecution of Christians across the wider Middle East. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm4g…

'Both men were given a six year driving ban' xitter.cf/TheMercianNews/status/…
🚨 BREAKING: Two strangers who killed a mother and her four-year-old daughter as they raced their cars have been jailed. • Justyna Hulboj, 27, and Lena Czepczor were struck on Scott Hall Road, Leeds on 16 January 2023. • On the day of the offence, Hardeep Bhachu and Jadskamal Riyat's vehicles came alongside each other at traffic lights in the morning rush hour traffic. From this moment, the two men decided to accelerate at high speed and began to race. • Riyat used his phone to film Bhachu before both vehicles accelerated away. They reached 89mph in an area where the 40mph speed limit was transitioning to 30mph. • Bhachu, 29, admitted causing their deaths after his Audi lost control and hit the pavement. He has been jailed for 12 years. • Riyat, 37, was found guilty of the same two counts of causing death by dangerous driving after footage showed the pair revving, filming and accelerating on a 40mph road. He has been jailed for 16 years. • Prosecutors said he was travelling at 89mph shortly before the 8:30AM crash and drove on to work.

Understand how the narrative works. Ahead of Brazil’s election, they were gearing up to blame Meta if Lula lost. Now that he’s been declared the winner, we’re hearing about the brilliant use of WhatsApp (Meta) that helped deliver his victory. When Obama won in 2012, they celebrated his shrewd use of Facebook, voter data and microtargeting. When Brexit happened and Trump won in 2016, we got the Cambridge Analytica moral panic. When the left wins, it’s brilliant digital campaigning. When the right wins, it’s social media manipulation undermining democracy.

I asked Labour MP Dawn Butler why she's demanding my constituents pay more tax to fund "reparations". She wouldn't answer, but called me a "racist" in the Commons. It's not right to make people pay "reparations" when they've done nothing wrong. Name-calling doesn't change that.

100%. Bringing over instinctively moderate but status-conscious people is the only way to avoid further mistakes that make life worse for all of us. (Besides which, Syed has long been critical of high immigration and multiculturalism) xitter.cf/undersneege/status/210…
Matthew Syed gives people a permission structure to circumvent their friend-enemy distinction and people shouldn’t counter signal him as much as they do. He will make more moderate tories and lib dems consider their position than almost any one else in the public sphere.

This is Fadi al-Halsa, a young Orthodox Christian (Rum Orthodox) dentist from Karak, Jordan who only just graduated from Alexandria University's dental school this year. Instead of celebrating his bright future, Fadi's parents and two sisters are now laying him to rest. Fadi was martyred in the Karak Saint George Church terrorist attack in Jordan.
