As I’ve explained in other replies, understand a Bears loss potentially being more beneficial, but I’d rather close the gap in the division right now rather than making up ground 2 of the final 3 weeks of the regular season.

1. These are professionals. Even when not on a roster, the man does nothing but practice these things all day long in hopes of getting another shot.
2. It's WEEK 8.. The Rams are currently the 9th seed, two spots out of the playoff picture with the entire NFC North and the Seahawks in front of them.
This team does not have time to figure anything out. They probably need to go 7-2, or maybe 6-3 (if they're lucky) to make the playoffs at this point.
Josh Karty was active yesterday (two kickers active on the 48 is not something you will see often around the league) for his ability to squib the ball into the landing zone with a nasty spin, making it difficult to field.
The Chargers had the following starting field position on his five attempts.

The two 40's were a penalties for the ball not hitting the landing zone (between the 20 and and the goal line) with his last just barely making it.
With those two penalties, the Chargers average starting field position was the 32. If the Rams simply had Evans boot the ball out of the end zone, the Chargers would have gotten the ball at the 35 each time.
Is 3 yards worth using one of your active roster spots?
If the Rams are going to use a valuable active roster spot for kickoff ability alone, he has to nail every single one.
