Rejection is protection + redirection.
"but unfortunately, we have decided to move forward with other candidates" My inbox is full of these rejections from every job I applied to. Rejection is a gift. It gives you time to re-think, re-strategize, and try again.

Honestly I’m worried the 9-5 rate race has just been replaced with the race to 10k followers or 10k/mo whichever comes first

Few skill levels are as revealing as a golf swing. One whack and everyone knows if you suck. Writing online (and building a personal brand helloooo) is kinda like that too. Unless

When you write how you speak, it resonates with your audience and relieves them of any effort. Let me rephrase that. Keep it casual. It's easier for everyone.

I went to the University of Delaware bc they gave me the biggest scholarship. Half off tuition to be exact. Fist bump to 17 yo Em for caring about grades. When I got to college, I focused on everything…except grades. Lost my scholarship. Couldn’t afford school anymore so I dropped out for 1 year. Got a job at the world’s worst-run restaurant. Catered lunch to an office building everyday. Asked the office building people to hire me for legit anything they had open. Over the next several years, I went from “intern” to being offered the sparkly position of “Financial Controller for the Americas." Picked up that college diploma along the way. Had an epiphany. Thanks, pandemic. Realized I didn’t give a rat’s be-hind about any of it. Turned down the sparkly promotion. Quit the career all together. Started writing online. Opened a writing agency. Tellin you about it all now. The point is: throw your life plan out the window and focus on what makes you happy today. I didn’t always like facing an unexpected fork in the road. But I never regretted working hard for what I wanted in that moment. Have the faith to chase it. Few things in life are unfixable. Fist bump to 28 yo Em for finally believing that.

Today I got good news from my doc. That thing we’ve been worrying about isn’t a thing anymore. God is good.

Transparency: I make my income from my writing agency, which is a US-based LLC. I get medical coverage through my husband’s job. How are you other solopreneurs managing health insurance?

Maybe I’m soft but I’m not vibing with all this --make fun of people who grow slowly or post their dm to roast em.-- Don’t forget these are people who look up to you.
