Woke up today and want to say you suck, @Twitter. My client's extremely malicious ex was sentenced to federal prison for five years partly for the stalking on this very platform and yet you still keep his account alive. And your counsel at @PerkinsCoieLLP give zero f*cks.

Google has a new concept called "known victims" for revenge porn & people serially attacked on slander sites. Once a person requests removal of these results from a search of their name, Google will automatically suppress similar content from resurfacing. nytimes.com/2021/06/10/techn…

After I reported the existence of Clearview AI in January 2020, the company's world exploded: lawsuits, international investigations, letters from senators. I've been talking to company CEO Hoan Ton-That through it all for this @nytmag cover story: nytimes.com/interactive/2021…

While Clearview's app is extremely controversial, there are powerful use cases. We talked to child crime investigators who say it's an invaluable database of young people, allowing them to identify the victims in sexually exploitative videos/photos. nytimes.com/2020/02/07/busin…

Also, I know many have pushed back on it, but this is a powerful example of the idea of "clickbait defamation" that @lessig raises.
Headlines, memes, pictures are stand alone objects. Even reading that entire CNBC article you wouldn't *really* be clear about what the story was.
Replying to @Klonick
In an incredible moment of irony, CNBC's headline about disinformation penalties was itself. . . misinformation.
And it was a tremendous example of how modern headlines can proliferate poisonously wrong ideas.

Facial recognition technology is racing ahead of privacy laws, creating the potential for abuse by the government, law enforcement, corporations, and bad actors.
This is an area crying out for Congressional oversight and action.
