Kyle Shanahan says a 51% analytics recommendation won’t convince him to go for it because he gets one shot, not an hour at a blackjack table “I don’t want to hear about it if it’s 51% of the time we should go for it.” “As I always say, I’m not sitting here playing Blackjack for an hour with no one else at the table, and eventually I’ll get 51% of it. Like, I have this one try, and I have a feel for it. I’ve been doing it too long.” “But what I want to know from him, when it’s not a feel, when it, no, this is 98%. We don’t even need to talk about it. So we don’t need to talk about it. Tell me when it’s that, and I’ll just do it.”

In combat sports, we are subjected to some pretty brilliant, unique minds. But I’ve never heard a stick and ball athlete speak like this. What a fascinating/likable guy.

7 THINGS A FATHER MUST UNDERSTAND 1. The more present the father, the more confident the child. 2. The more patient the father, the more the children open up. 3. The more he listens, the more they trust him. 4. The more respect he shows their mother, the more they learn respect. 6. The more he encourages, the braver they become. 7. The more he says sorry when wrong, the more humble they grow. IT ALL STARTS WITH A PRESENT FATHER

Tom Cruise admits that he refuses to use email and bans production teams from messaging him because he believes technology isolates celebrities from real humanity "First of all, it's a beautiful thing to be able to walk into a room and people smile. It is a really beautiful thing because I want to create, I like all kinds of music and movies and to be able to play in those arenas" "So it really opens those doors to humanity in a way, and I like being in there" "Don't lock me in a room. I want to be with the people. In the production meetings, don't send me emails, we're going to sit down, we're going to communicate. I like face-to-face" "I look at it as an absolute privilege and responsibility"

Brock Purdy says NFL quarterbacks can’t actually see where they’re throwing nearly 40% of the time, and explains why processing information is more important than having a strong arm "My quarterback coach, Brian Griese, the last couple years, he and I talked about that. He played 11 years, his dad’s Bob Griese. But we got talking about how really it’s 60/40. You can see about 60% of the time, and the other 40% you really can’t. I mean, it doesn’t matter how big you are." "He goes, that’s why it’s so important when it comes down to knowing coverages, knowing scheme, where our players are supposed to be, how many steps they’re breaking, and where the ball should be over a certain backer. All those things, man, it matters." "And that’s why guys, you know, if you go to a combine and all those things, you’re just throwing on air, and yeah, you look all good with a strong arm and fast, jumping, all that stuff. But when it comes down to 11-on-11 and you got guys that are a foot taller and you can’t see, it comes down to the processing." "Like before the play, I know that this safety is probably going to rotate down. It’s going to be one high, and I got one hitch, no more than that, to rip it where Deebo’s supposed to be, like just inside the hash. And there’s a backer that’s also got a 40-inch vert that I got to put it over. That’s what’s crazy, all those things when you’re fitting it in over the backer and underneath the deep safety."

We’ve lost 30% of our purchasing power in the last 6 years and somehow, everyone just accepted it. We literally were made 30% poorer so the government can spend trillions.

Steve Kerr says Roger Federer taught his Warriors team the secret to sustained success wasn’t outworking everyone, it was building a life around your craft you never want to escape from “I’ll tell you a great story about Roger Federer. We were playing in China with the Warriors in 2017. Roger was in Shanghai for the Masters tournament, so we invited him to come speak to the team.” “Draymond Green asked him, ‘How do you sustain success? How have you managed to win majors 20 years after you first won one?’ Everyone was expecting him to say, ‘I work harder than everybody,’ the will, all the clichés.” “Roger Federer says, ‘I get up every morning and I make breakfast for my kids. Then I take them to school and drop them off. Then I go practice tennis for about two hours, and I’ve figured out a really good routine where I don’t destroy my body, but I can get all the work in I need.” “‘Then I go have lunch with my wife. In the evening, we cook dinner together. The kids are all home from school. We ask them about school. There’s so much joy in the house. We put them to bed, and then I put my head on the pillow and go, “Man, that was just a great day.” And I’ve been doing that for 20 years.’” “And it was like, yes. That’s it. That’s the formula. That’s what leads to sustained success. He loves tennis. He loves his family. He loves life. It’s not outworking everybody and banging your head against the wall, ‘I’m going to be better than everybody.’ It’s allowing your natural talent to shine through with a work ethic, with a great family life, with perspective, with peace, with mindfulness.” “It’s perspective. It’s joy. It’s passion. It’s mindfulness. It’s an awareness that we are truly lucky. To get the most out of ourselves, it’s our daily rituals and experiences and love and joy.”

Why am I paying taxes on my paycheck… then sales tax just to spend that money… then income tax on money that’s already been taxed… then property tax on land I bought with taxed money after paying sales tax on it… then vehicle tax just to drive to work… gas tax to fill the tank… energy tax to keep the lights on… death tax when I die… and God help me if I try to save any cash, because they’ll just inflate that away too.
