A young blogger lost his life in horrific circumstances. His family deserves justice, and the circumstances surrounding his death demand unwavering accountability. What exactly is the revolution being preached if the principles of justice and accountability become negotiable when political alliances are being assembled? The rule of law must be a principle, not a political convenience. @edwinsifuna you do not represent the change you so passionately claim to champion. Change is not a collection of revolutionary slogans; it is demonstrated through principles, consistency and the courage to hold even your political allies accountable. Kenya does not need a new generation of politicians recycling the old politics under the branding of a revolution.

But can those principles coexist with a political arrangement that accommodates individuals whose close associates have faced serious allegations in connection with the murder of a government critic? Is this the revolution our comrades died fighting for on 24th June 2024? What exactly will distinguish your political establishment from William Ruto's regime, which has faced widespread condemnation over abductions, torture and extrajudicial killings, if your political allies cannot demonstrate an unwavering commitment to protecting dissenting voices? A revolution cannot merely change the faces occupying positions of power; it must fundamentally change the culture of impunity, selective justice and intolerance of criticism.
