Reflecting on what I was going through as an adolescent goalkeeper has been nostalgic, insightful and a little eye opening.
Here's what 10 year old Eric was saying and what I (think I) actually meant:
"Yes, I'd love to tryout for that team."
Wait, is this all I do now?
Maybe your GKs are thinking the same thing, have you asked?

Quick message I dropped in the SETGK community the other day, maybe you or your GKs find it of value too:
"Good morning everyone! I went to my first D2 match in North Carolina the other night supporting GK Coach Chase Boulton and I wanted to give a shout to the D1 or bust crowd.
I encourage you all to think long and hard about what attracts you to a school: is it playing time, the GK coach, the campus, the style of play, the culture of the team, the academics.. what is it?
Often times the level of the division is superficial….
The same way you would like to be assessed based on your effectiveness instead of your height, assess the schools based on their value holistically, not just on their division.
Have a great day!"

One of the most fun parts about this next chapter for me as a business owner, GK coach, former GK etc has just been being able to sit back and enjoy watching goalkeepers.
Both GKs could strike the ball past half from a goal-kick consistently. Not sure how you get around this one guys, if you can kick the ball further = you can access / threaten more of the field = you are harder to press.
If this is interesting to you, let me know, shoot me a DM, drop a comment, let's chat.

I know this question comes up a lot as I chat with parents of GKs but also for coaches as we try to maximize the development of our GKs, so I thought I’d give you some ground rules from my perspective.
Any other situations you guys can think of that would make it make sense to split time as a youth GK?
Shoot me a DM if this kind of stuff interests you, let's chat.... if it doesn't, please do not DM me lol..
