Jean Rouch. Little By Little (1971). youtu.be/IxnbYV4-su8?is=p1nq…
Sacha Baron Cohen on Nathan Fielder, who worked on his show 'Who Is America?': "I think he’s a comic genius and he reinvented the genre that I, I suppose, created or developed. And he had a rule really, which was to not do anything that I had done. But he’s a brilliant, brilliant mind, and absolutely hilarious. I think his documentary’s going to be huge, so I’m very excited for him." bit.ly/4BpPgkz

Too many movies coming out on the same weekend. Spread them out! They don't all have to come out in October.

I wrote about Once Upon a Time in Harlem's striking reflection of cultural debate that today's social media era has made nearly impossible to replicate. My latest for @Salon: salon.com/2026/10/19/what-on…

Yes then see ONCE UPON A TIME IN HARLEM
I have not been to a movie theatre in almost a decade, and am thinking of breaking that streak for the Elizabeth Holmes documentary. Worth it?

Ann was the most incredible combination of warmth & kindness coupled with deep intelligence and incredible passion. I just adored her. As did everybody. 💔

Thinking about all the family, friends, and colleagues who loved Ann Hornaday. She was The Washington Post’s longtime film critic, but she was also generous and funny and kind and would send random notes praising your work and sign them, “Your fan, always.” 1/2

The WAFCA family is in mourning today at the loss of our cherished friend Ann Hornaday. Ann was a true legend in our field, one of the best to ever do it. She was also a beloved mentor and colleague, whose thoughtfulness and humor made us all better. She will be missed.

Ann Hornaday was a beautiful writer and an accessible one. She connected with readers every time she reviewed a movie. She loved a political documentary as much as a rom com. Ann's cancer was brutal and I'm glad she's no longer in pain. But I will miss her forever. I loved her.
