I moved to https://xitter.cf/t.co/GaDsKjTnnm Twitter died. X is the Nazi bar. Hope fights in the dark.

I joined Twitter fifteen years ago. I had no idea that I would use it for more than throwaway tweets about my breakfast. Sadly, Elmo thought that $44B might buy him power, and X was born. I've moved to BlueSky.

Customers will trust the Apple TV with microphones because they have a 40+ year track record of never once listening to customers.

More ads from Greg Abbott calling for inspections of children’s genitals. The GOP’s obsession with this topic is fucking creepy. They’ve spent hundreds of millions of dollars on it

Hey, @PayPal: You know what the Open Web is great for? Finding alternatives to companies that force installation of unnecessary mobile apps.

bitsaboutmoney.com/archive/o… talks about this in the context of fraud generally. The point is that the "optimal rate of fraud" is >0 even if the ideal rate is 0. Getting to the ideal entails tradeoffs that make the system worse, overall. Importantly though, in the case of voting...
This is the proper amount. There's something called "decreasing marginal returns". The ideal rate isn't zero, because to achieve that you, need some sort of police state that will disenfranchise a lot of voters. The ideal rate is there a couple of foreigners voting in each election in each state that somehow get through the cracks in the system -- not enough to change the outcome of an election.

...the GOP actively *seeks* that very un-optimal outcome because they know that the more people vote, the worse the GOP performs. So by seeking a globally non-optimal outcome ("0 Fraud"), the GOP can achieve their own goals ("Reduced turnout means GOP wins!").

Don't bother sending money to the @nytimes for a subscription. They won't let you read the content you're paying for anyway.

Curious: If you've got a Windows ARM64 device, can you try out soundtools.io/voice-cloning/? It works great for me on my Intel desktop, but fails entirely (gibberish output) in Edge and Chrome on my Gen7 Surface running ARM64.

Be careful out there, my friends! I took a quick look at free in-browser voice cloning tools. Compelling attacks targeting your friends and colleagues are now free and simple for anyone with a web browser and access to a recording of your voice. textslashplain.com/2026/08/1…
