“It’s simple: You have to turn off the tap before you begin mopping the floor. Countries can’t phase out fossil fuels w/o stopping oil + gas expansion.” – Thuli Makama of @PriceofOil on dangerous fossil fuel expansion by rich countries like US, UK, Norway. #EndFossilFuels #COP28 – at Dubai, United Arab Emirates

At least 127 countries have called for or endorsed a decision to phaseout fossil fuels at #COP28. That's a huge increase from the 80 who endorsed phaseout/down IN THE POWER SECTOR last year. Key to moving others is justice, finance & adaptation. priceofoil.org/2023/12/12/pr…

To those who opposed a clear reference to phase out of fossil fuels during the #COP28 Climate Conference, I want to say: Whether you like it or not, fossil fuel phase out is inevitable. Let’s hope it doesn’t come too late.

If we get an agreement on fossil fuels at #COP28 it'll be in large part thanks to @antonioguterres' tireless advocacy. One of the rare world leaders who is telling the truth about the severity of the climate crisis and where the blame lies: with the fossil fuel industry.
António Guterres

I have come back to #COP28, because we are on the brink of climate disaster & this conference must mark a turning point. I am here to renew my urgent appeal to leaders: Recommit to the 1.5°C warming limit. End the fossil fuel age. Deliver climate justice. Make #COP28 count.
