The closest Twitter things so far... Post.news - This seems to be where tech types are going. Drier, but more fully-featured. Hivesocial.app - The cooler one, but wholly app-centric. There's no web version, which limits it.

Really must tip my hat to Elon’s failed verification experiment for giving me the perfect lifelong example about why it’s cheaper and easier to listen to security during the design phase of a product.

What if--and this is just a crazy idea I had--we keep doing the things that made flu "virtually disappear"

The flu virtually disappeared for the last 2 years — but health officials are predicting that it could come roaring back this winter, alongside potential COVID spikes, threatening to cause a long-feared "twindemic." n.pr/3R1aRHu

🎉 A new experimental file watcher (--watch) made it into Node. It will watch the entry point and any required/imported module and there's also a --watch-path argument. ❗This is not released yet but might land in the upcoming v18.9.0. Video alt: Node.js restarting on save.

This guy is using Img2img Stable Diffusion on old Sierra titles. Input the old 16 color low res image and get back amazingly detailed recreations. sciprogramming.com/community… (I wonder if soonish we can apply this to old cartoons animations?)

Stop parsing query parameters with location.search. This Object.fromEntries() + URLSearchParams combination provides you an object interface for all query params. This is the way.
// https://example.com/profile?name=david&language=es const searchParams = new URLSearchParams(location.search); const params = Object.fromEntries(searchParams.entries()); const { name, language } = params; // name => david // language => es

While doing some request work, casually found some new cheats in Super Punch-out for SNES. All secret codes in this game uses two-button combinations. Two of them are known: Sound test and Japanese name input. But there are two more. ->

Pro-lifers don't like complexity. At 17 weeks my placenta detached and he was much too small. I thought I felt my baby's frantic attempts to breathe. My OBGYN advised me to terminate the pregnancy, there wasn't much time. But I couldn't.

This paper shows that learning about how your firm works is equivalent to gaining Lovecraftian Secret Knowledge. Promising managers asked to do process redesign at their firm learn how messed up it all is, so they give up rising careers & become hermits at the edges of the firm
