Having daily driven both the Fold 8 and the iPhone Duo for a bit now, the front screen experience is night and day.
The Duo outer display basically feels like an iPhone mini with a leash on it. Tidy, great for quick triage, checking a widget or firing off a quick text, but iOS clearly wants you to unfold the thing the second you want to do anything real.
The Fold 8 front screen, on the other hand, is just outright fun. Proper usable width, no cramped typing, and One UI lets you treat it like a full blown powerhouse. Floating windows, split screen, zero babysitting. Half the time I do not even bother opening the inner display because the front glass does not feel like a compromise.
Apple built a glanceable cover reminding me of flip 8. Samsung built an actual phone.
Good morning Sydney!
Great views from work this morning and no disengagements on my morning commute via M4 with FSD v14.3.12 DU.
Keep trucking, don’t go changing.

Milestone for me! 250 is a drop in the ocean to some. But I appreciate every single sub so much!
Here’s to the next 250 🎉

iPhone Duo could be the first foldable to make it into the top 10 best selling smartphones. That would be legendary!

The amount of hate directed towards the iPhone Duo is honestly ridiculous. 🤦♂️
• Samsung fans initially went crazy over claims that the Duo was using the same camera sensors as the iPhone 17e. Yet, the device has since proven that it doesn’t rely on inferior sensors, delivering impressive photo and video quality that even surpasses the Z Fold 8 in certain comparisons. Still, some people refuse to acknowledge it. And still say duo has weaker cameras To be fair its has weaker camera system than iPhone to so Z fold 8 has weaker camera than s26u 🤣
• Nobody seems to have the same energy for the Z Fold 8’s compromises, including weaker battery life, no S Pen support, weaker performance compared to duo ,no MagSafe, and no vapor chamber cooling , no ip 68 , terrible speaker placements compared to the Duo. But Samsung fans concerned more about the slight weight difference and thickness make it look like a bigger issue than it really is 🙈But when it comes to Apple, suddenly slight compromise becomes a major issue.even though their side lacks tons of things
• People are already calling the Duo’s app experience unoptimized, despite the device not even being a month old. Developers need time to optimize their apps for a new form factor and aspect ratio. Even there are tons of video out there shows how developers are creating new styles of apps just for duo and its foldable screen Judging the entire experience this early is simply premature.considering the optimized apps is leaps above than what Samsung achieved with 7 years of throwing thier os to dev
Let’s be honest: performance, camera quality, battery life, and the overall OS/UI experience aren’t the Duo’s biggest concerns. Even the app issue people said to be terrible will be vanish away in few months The real issue is the current display problems, which Apple needs to acknowledge and address.
Criticism is fair, but the double standards are getting ridiculous. When it’s Samsung, people preach patience and wait for updates. When it’s Apple, they rush to conclusions before the device has even had time to mature. 🤷♂️🍎

2 or 3 years until Starlink Mobile in the US...
Be interesting to see how much the Australian mobile landscape changes by then.
There is no competition with the fold 8 for sure
Replying to @AdamJMatlock
The Z Fold 8 is actually rated for 500,000 folds. 200,000 was the original Z Fold in 2018

I'm trying really hard to love my iPhone Duo but after seeing the recent issues with screen/hinge, it only makes me more excited about the Samsung Fold 9 and Fold 9 Ultra next year. Short lived hype and excitement. Gen 1 ❎
Apple foldable supplier Fine M-Tec issued a statement denying hinge defects behind early iPhone Duo display cracking, threatening legal action over market speculation.
Fact check: premature. iFixit teardowns reveal stress points along the central support bar, but whether it is a supplier tolerance slip, an Apple mechanical design flaw, or panel fatigue remains unverified.
Deflection makes sense when shares drop 15%, but passing factory QA is not the same as passing real world physics.

Yes! A robot on wheels any day as a rental!
This is huge! People don’t just rent cars anymore, they want FSD and the car that comes with it.
@turo recognizes that selling the destination is better than selling the ticket.
I was the founding host on Turo in Sydney. Maybe it’s time to get back into it 🤔
Yes. I have an iPhone Air as a spare which came in handy when I had to get my first Duo replaced due to hinge issues.
