Go @joshgruenstein, @emilymspector and the entire @tutorintel team!!!
We raised a $75M Series B to deploy intelligent robots now, led by @a16z, with participation from @usv and @neo. @tutorintel robots work real jobs across the United States, directed by human “tutors” and the foundation models we’ve trained on the work done. This round accelerates frontier model training, robot manufacturing, and deployment into industry. We’re in almost 4x as many sites as a year ago; nearly a third of this year’s deployments went to existing customers coming back for more; and we’re on track to have more than 1,000 robots under contract by the end of 2027. Our mission is to proliferate robotics for the common good. If you want to make robots reliably do things others think are impossible, for people who’ve never had access to this technology, join us.

Today @Walmart is expanding Better Care Services into a healthcare store, powered by General Medicine. Now, customers can search and browse 900+ products and services across a dozen provider groups, compare cash prices and estimated costs with insurance, and get the care they need. Thank you to the Walmart team for building this with us and bringing it to customers across the US . Read Walmart's press release here: corporate.walmart.com/news/2…

its time to build the store!
Every conversation we have with @tjparker and the @GeneralMedicine team is a lot of fun. So we recorded one on what it means to build "the healthcare store" 00:00 Intro 00:54 Why health care needs a store 04:51 Getting a biopsy booked in three days 07:13 Lessons from his dad’s pharmacy and PillPack 11:12 Why Amazon Pharmacy was so hard to build 15:40 Why TJ went full-time as CEO 17:10 How do you define a product in healthcare? 20:05 Building a two-sided healthcare marketplace 25:18 How AI works for patients and providers 31:02 Coverage, cash prices and price transparency 37:23 Partnerships and the business model

Clinical AI can be life or death, especially as busy doctors increasingly rely on it to inform their decisions. We shouldn't let AI companies grade their own homework. @withprotegeai is solving this, and today launched Independent Evaluations: double-blind evals built by healthcare experts on de-identified, real-world data that model builders have never seen. This is the kind of trust infrastructure healthcare AI needs before it reaches patients. Congrats @BobbySamuels, @engyziedan, and team!

We’re used to optionality, clarity and convenience in so many parts of our lives. Yet when it comes to our health, where each decision is so personal and so consequential, we’re still piecing together records, making endless phone calls, and waiting for someone to tell us what it all costs and what happens next. Well...it’s time for something better!! @GeneralMedicine is building the general store for healthcare: one place that brings together your history, clinical guidance, transparent prices, and access to thousands of products and services. The store is somewhere you can turn for care, and return to over time, never having to start from scratch. (And one day…never have to fill out another clipboard in the waiting room.) A world where we can get high-quality care when we need it, fully understand our options, and know exactly what it will cost us; where finding and accessing care feels as intuitive as the best consumer experiences. We couldn’t think of a better team to build this @tjparker @elliotcohen @ashwinkmurali . There’s so much to do and we’re just getting started! @vintweeta @JorgeCondeBio @daisydwolf a16z.com/announcement/invest…

General Medicine has raised a $120M Series B led by @a16z. We're using it to build the healthcare store. The only way healthcare will work is to make the customer the most powerful participant in the system. And the only way to do that is to let them shop. Here’s why healthcare needs a store, and what we had to build to make it possible:

Most of the discussion on tasks for AI in medicine has been focused on purely cognitive decision-making But most are underestimating the pace at which some (not all!) tasks in the world of surgery and other physical interventions may also be automated — it’s not “20 years away” as I often hear from folks Love that the Aleph team is focused on finding tasks where generalizable autonomy will be impactful in the OR
We’re taking a massive swing at generalizable autonomy in the OR. Solving it means tackling some of the hardest problems at the intersection of robotics and medicine. If that level of ambition excites you, reach out → alephsurgical.com/jobs

Surgery is one of the most compelling opportunities for Physical AI - scaling expertise built over decades and bringing it to more patients. @alephsurgery is taking on the challenge, building a fully autonomous surgical robot. We at @a16z are honored to support @r_mcguire and @dylanmcguir3 as they build the future. @daisydwolf @oyhsu If that level of ambition excites you, reach out!! alephsurgical.com/jobs
Replying to @dylanmcguir3
@dylanmcguir3 and I just raised a $7.5M pre-seed led by @a16z to build a robotic surgeon @alephsurgery Much of the early investment in Physical AI has focused on industries where labor is relatively abundant and low-cost. We believe the biggest opportunities to change the world lie at the opposite end of the spectrum. Surgery is among the most valuable forms of labor on the planet, but it's far too scarce and expensive - due to an exceptionally long training pipeline and highly concentrated expertise. We’re building the first surgeon that scales: one system that can acquire, refine, and transfer surgical skills across millions of procedures. v1 is already learning to perform surgical tasks autonomously from demonstrations, and improve from its own experience. Lots of great folks behind us! @BoxGroup, Reveille VC, Constellation, @forward_deploy, @Valkyrie_vc, @DiscipulusVent, @maniacvc + more

Another week, another life saved for a @function / @ezrainc member. Our Advanced MRI spotted a member's kidney cancer while it was just 2.6cm and confined to the kidney. Member had minimally invasive partial kidney removal, and they’re now fully recovered. Get screened!

A must read piece by @illscience “Individuality was supposed to be the luxury you bought once you’d made it. I think it’s about to become the thing everyone gets to spend their life on, the work itself. So when I picture where this goes, I see a lot of people making strange, beautiful, slightly pointless things and handing them around to see what happens. The toys were fine. But we always wanted to play with the boxes.”
