#Disease peeps: What are your favorite stories to tell in your classes? What parts of the history of learning about diseases is the most interesting to you or your students? How have our values through time impacted this process? What's the best combo of gross and cool?

I made a post saying “hey! More people should observe the honorable harvest! Maybe don’t be a jerk when foraging” and CHILE u would’ve thought I told some people I was going to eat their mom
Here’s a selection of comments, and I bet you can’t guess what they all have in common!
Love everything about this. Everything. #BenedictCumberbatch #rosencrantzandguildenstern

"It is unforgivable that one person does every 10 minutes from a preventable disease like #rabies." @hampson_katie and her colleagues and students have been working to understand rabies dynamics in domestic dogs and the importance of targeted vaccination campaigns. #EEID2022 – at Druid Hills, GA

Very happy I got to work on this pub with @Nguyen_4science and @The_David_J!
A timely pub for @eeid2022! Me, @The_David_J & @evierynk developed a lab activity that allows students to build their own contact networks & simulate outbreaks & interventions. It can be scaled for non-major & major students. #DiseaseEcology #EEID2022

Vector borne disease networks in space-time! Love it. Maybe we need a TARDIS for the next analysis ;) #EEID2022
Can’t be in person for #eeid2022 in Atlanta, but I’m glad I can join remotely! Very cool to see a breakdown of how different kinds integrative research works from Amira Roess! Working together is the way forward!
Check out the thread about the grad students at IU going on strike to be able to form a union. IU is a great school and needs to stay great by supporting their grad student employees!

This! Things are far from back to normal for parents if young kids!
YES this. Can I again? I’m really not sure. To make matters worse, institutions like @virginia_tech are not adequately acknowledging the present reality for faculty, staff, & grad students w/ kids <12. Can we teach virtually when our kids are in quarantine or schools shut down?
