Not sure bringing up people’s politically dubious relatives is the best strategy for you here, Mr Mosley.
The letter wasn’t to silence you, @jeremycorbyn, but simply to point out where you are saying things that are not true. Perhaps I should have softened the phrase “I hope this alleviates any concerns you had”? My offer to meet stands btw. Might be a chance for you to catch up with @Piers_Corbyn too? He’ll be with us again this afternoon.

This is one of the most basic measures the Labour Government could have taken to make taxation fairer.
Once again this Labour Government is showing they'll side with wealth and power rather than everyone struggling right now.
🚨 BREAKING 🚨 Chancellor Healey rules out CGT rise.
That's bad news for a former Mayor of Manchester who famously once said “we have overtaxed labour and undertaxed wealth."

This latest article from Thomas Pikkety, the renowned French economist and leading authority on wealth inequality, should be essential reading here in the UK.
His argument is simple.
France has never been wealthier. Yet education funding per student has fallen by 20% since 2017, public services are struggling, and inequality is deeply embedded in the system.
Sound familiar?
The problem isn't that our countries have run out of wealth. It's how that wealth is distributed, who controls it, and the political choices made to protect it.
For decades, we've been told that austerity, declining public services and falling living standards are unavoidable consequences of economic crises, yet those same decades have seen extraordinary concentrations of private wealth.
Socialise the costs. Privatise the gains.
This is the reality we all need to wake up to.
These aren't inevitable economic outcomes. They're the consequences of political choices, made over time, that have prioritised the accumulation of private wealth over the needs of society.
And as public anger grows, we're seeing a deeply concerning response: The rise of the far right, directing that anger towards immigrants, disabled people, those claiming welfare and other vulnerable groups, rather than towards the economic structures responsible for the inequalities people are rightly furious about.
As @NaomiAKlein describes fascism, "it's capitalism's most ferocious threat response. A way of directing public anger downwards at the vulnerable, rather than upwards at the system."
Fascism doesn't challenge the status quo. It protects it by giving people someone else to blame.
The fundamental question isn't whether our societies can afford something better. It's why, when we've never been wealthier, we're repeatedly told we must accept less.
We need to fundamentally rethink an economy built around extraction, exploitation and wealth concentration, and start building one that delivers equitable, sustainable prosperity for everyone.
And with the UK Budget next week, this should be a serious warning to @UKLabour.
If the Budget fails to acknowledge this fundamental reality, and instead offers another round of "difficult decisions" that protect concentrated wealth while asking ordinary people to shoulder the burden, then @andyburnham really hasn't understood what's happening across Europe.
What's unfolding in France isn't an isolated protest. It's a warning of what happens when people stop accepting that a society growing ever wealthier somehow can't afford to give them a better life.
This isn't something politicians can keep kicking down the road.
The warning signs are everywhere. The question now is whether those in power are prepared to confront the causes, or continue defending the very system that's driving the anger.

High schoolers, students: the twilight of macronism
Hundreds of thousands of young people work hard to earn their high school diplomas, but there is nothing planned to welcome them into higher education

Matt Hancock should be in jail.
Everyone knew at the time that he was throwing care home residents under the bus during Covid. 43,000 people died because of his incompetent decisions.
And that’s not even to mention the numerous corrupt contracts he handed out.
Horrific man.

I am absolutely convinced that if Israel fired a nuclear missile at Tehran, around ninety percent of the British political and media establishment would explain in grave tones why it was necessary, if regretable, and that those who object are vile extremists and antisemites.

I'm a victim of Antisemitism every day and I've made it clear Jewish people are welcome in my party.

I’m really not sure Andy Burnham understands just how precarious his position is.
He promised to end neoliberalism and put more money in peoples’ pockets.
That is the *only* reason Labour’s polling has increased.
If he refuses to tax wealth over work, his polling will plummet.

In the run up to the Budget on 28 October the media will tell you which cuts “must” be made. Here’s the list they won’t read out. Corporate welfare.
- The banks have already pocketed £6bn from the Tory surcharge cut. Labour still hasn’t reversed it.
- The Treasury also pays the banks interest on their QE reserves at the Bank of England. IPPR puts that at £22bn a year.
- Oil and gas firms get back tax they’ve already paid when they decommission rigs. HMRC’s own estimate: £24bn.
That bank reserves payment alone is more than the entire police budget for England and Wales (£21bn), and over 80% of what councils in England spend on adult social care (£26.7bn).
There’s always money. Now ask yourself why these numbers never make the media’s list of “tough choices”.

Our media this morning: Will Zack Polanski resign?
In the past few days, Jonathan Bartley seems to have done more media appearances than he did in the entirety of his virtually anonymous 5 years as Green Party co-leader from 2016-2021.
All to attack a leader who has hugely boosted Green Party membership, income, and vote share.

The British Press: “don’t you dare say that the ideology behind this is racist”
Pretty funny how the entire UK media is trying to convince everyone that it’s somehow controversial to call an Ethnonationalist ideology that has systemically ethnically cleansed millions of people from their homeland - and is currently engaged in a literal genocide - ‘racist’.

Notice how silent Andy Burnham has been on wealth taxes.
He’s targeted pensioners by scrapping the triple lock.
And now young people by scrapping the disability element of UC.
Yet not a word on the unproductive assets or unearned wealth of the super rich.
It’s very revealing.
