My mother was a philosophy professor in Oxford ... and at age 8 I was fond of declaring "If there's one thing I'll never be when I'm grown up it's a philosopher!" Well, decades later, my science led me to figure out some rather interesting things in philosophy ... and now there's a book of my philosophical essays just published. amazon.com/Ultimately-There-…

The single most important book that EVERYONE needs to read is Incerto (and technical Incerto). Single most.
Dear enemies, detractors, libellers, university rats, genocide propagandists, ethnic cleansing & baby murder promoters, & label conscious Davos midwits, it also happens that #Antifragility is the most influential 21st C. concept.

So... human language processing is closer to current platform LLMs than traditional linguistic theory? also, bad news for S. Pinker.., consider especially The Language Instinct and his words-and-rules theory, defends a Chomsky-style view Another win for @nntaleb bs detector
Chomsky was wrong. Researchers found your brain doesn’t store language the way every textbook since 1957 claims. For decades, the undisputed rule of linguistics, led by Noam Chomsky, was that human language is hierarchical. We were told our brains process language using complex "grammar trees." That we secretly build deep, abstract, mathematical rules in our heads before we speak. This new paper proves that is completely wrong. Researchers at Cornell University analyzed how people actually process and produce language in real time. They found sequences. Linear chunks. When we speak, we aren't calculating deep syntactic rules. We are just predicting the next most logical sequence of words based on the context of the words right before it. We string linear chunks together. If this sounds familiar, it should. This is exactly how Large Language Models like ChatGPT work. For years, critics have dismissed AI as "just a next-token predictor." They said it isn't truly intelligent because it doesn't understand deep grammatical hierarchies like humans do. But this paper suggests humans don't use those hierarchies either. We are just predicting the next chunk. Language isn't a rigid tree of mathematical rules. It's a linear stream of contextual predictions. We thought we were building AI to mimic the complexity of the human brain. It turns out, the human brain was just running a simpler algorithm all along.

Nunca he tenido relación ni me he reunido con personas dedicadas a actividades delictivas.

This is the absolute best advice for a profession. Modern economy has habituated everyone into sacrificing their dignity, tailoring themselves from one employer to the next. Alloy. So you end up with no real identity or skill.

Real humans seek truth, clarity, depth & simplicity. And so they welcome anything that destroys the false, the superficial & the purely mechanistic, e.g. (especially) AI.

Expertise increases risk taking only linearly, but the effects of collision are nonlinear: 40km/h is > 10 times the risks of 10km/h. This explains the mortality of experts outside ludic setups (racing tracks for cars, dedicated roads for cycling competitions, etc.) x isnot f(x)

The problem isn’t that AI is intelligent. It isn’t. The problem is that too many adults (but not all) are at once mechanistic, imitative, unimaginative, stupid, formulaic, influenceable, & gullible, arrogant beyond their skill set, & too expensive to maintain.

If your activity is far away of the final product/service and the client is a large pyramid you are more in danger. The opposite is more robust

“In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face is that, in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so.” — Anton Ego in Ratatouille
