What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admiration for him and his work. My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.

I was really impressed by @m_lubieniecki simulation showing the @Tesla Roadster up against @Max33Verstappen 2025 time at COTA, but I wanted to be able to see it from the track. So I had AI take his data and build a 'ghost cam' visualization. It's pretty great. Enjoy! @elonmusk

The demo for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is out now, and it’s fantastic. From the title screen you can tell this is going to be something special. The movement and combat are great, even the menus show attention and care. Welcome back Castlevania.

Watched “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” A lonely hero. A lonely Spidey. A lonely Peter Parker. It felt fresh, and I really enjoyed it. Until now, Spider-Man films have generally been grouped into self-contained trilogies. With each new iteration, the cast and creative team changed, allowing the franchise to reinvent itself for a new era. This time, however, while both the cast and the story continue from the previous film, everything has been reset. The film focuses on Peter, once again alone, and the loneliness and inner conflict that come with that. It can be seen both as the beginning of a new series and as a direct continuation of the last one. A very clever structure. In the age of social media and its immense power to amplify every opinion, striking the right balance between what filmmakers want to create and what audiences expect has become incredibly difficult. Genuine, heartfelt filmmaking is becoming increasingly challenging. Because of that, this is a film that puts the “Brand” in “Brand New Day” to the test, as part of a blockbuster franchise that simply cannot afford to fail. 🕷️

Back in 2012, F5 Games launched House of the Lost for iPad and iPhone. It had shifting levels full of Halloween monsters, screen-filling boss battles, weapon crafting, and secrets hidden behind almost every wall. And it was one of the first roguelikes on mobile. Then, in 2019, it disappeared from the App Store without a trace. But on July 16th, the House is coming back! Hit the link for all the details on this indie gem. gameminr.com/articles/271?t=…

Nintendo's latest Direct delivered a delightful surprise when indie studio Shapefarm announced that the Switch 2 exclusive, #Orbitals, was launching on Sept 3rd. Orbitals stars two explorers, Maki and Omura, navigating a cosmic storm in a retro anime world with full voice acting. It's the most exciting original IP on #Switch2 this year, and it feels like playing a 90s anime movie with a friend. It's hard to beat that.

Thanks for making the game of your dreams with us, Warren.
"Don't sign the contract!" Legendary game designer Warren Spector tells the story how Deus Ex almost did not happen, and how John @Romero drove down in his Hummer to stop him from signing a contract for a Command and Conquer game, and to hire him to make the game of his dreams.

New Blog Post! After much disruption, I'm back to blogging with a short cheery post about creation. Video games are a young art form, and there is still so much to be discovered. You don't have to be a Capital-C Creator or hitmaker to take part.
