But we can make schools (and childcare centres) much safer if we take action to prevent airborne transmission of the virus that causes COVID-19.
Read these comprehensive guidelines to find out what we need to do. ⬇️

The researchers found that the virus readily spread from the school into households.
Teachers infected their partners, and children infected their parents.

A new study of weekly testing of children and staff at a Belgian primary school shows what we’ve always suspected: if mitigation measures aren’t in place, transmission is common between children and adults at school, and it spills over into households.

So, all I can hope is that we can somehow catch up on protecting our children, with BOTH doses necessary, and that we don't see a delay in considering the 5+ case once approved.
The recent parliamentary reports ring true here - rapidity is essential, plus learning from other

The fact is that the majority of infections have been in <18s, these have seeded infections in other age groups, and we're seeing rising hospitalisations and deaths as a result, across all ages, including kids.
Our waning immunity would be far less of a concern if there

MHRA approved Pfizer for 12+ in June. We are in a pandemic. JCVI should not have needed nearly 4 months to come up with their non-decision/deferral to the CMO.
Reading the 💩 about using kids the way they suggest is so upsetting, but also how did they realistically imagine that

What I really find hard to stomach on all the frankly heinous statements in the JCVI minutes is that so much damage has already been done.
Failure to protect teens over summer despite unlocking and everyone with half a brain realising another wave would come is just shocking imo.

I think a lot of people in this country have forgotten (or never known) why the EU was created in the first place.

When you think of all the pain they put people through for the Bedroom Tax to supposedly save the taxpayer “£400m pa” it is staggering to think of the sheer waste of £37 billion to private health for test & trace.
Why didn’t they just give this to the NHS to run?

That equates to 5,000 cases per 100,000.
Last year, anyone from a country with a case rate of just 20 per 100,000 was barred from entry to the UK.
21 per 100,000 was too risky last year.
5,000 per 100,000 now passes without a raised eyebrow.

1 in every 20 secondary school kids in England has covid (ONS- yesterday). One of the most staggering pandemic statistics ever. Based on all the evidence I’ve seen, in my opinion the delay in offering teen covid vax was inexplicable & unforgivable in a country that can afford it.

The big difference in attitudes between the USA and the UK towards the risk of covid in kids right now is something for the history books to document. US taking kids infection rates seriously. UK delayed offering vaccine so much and when finally did it’s ‘for school disruptions’!

Are you referring to NZ or to UK? If NZ then you need to do a bit more research on life in NZ during the pandemic.

We have been completely open while the world died. BECAUSE we trap all at our border by monitored, fed isolation of ALL visitors for 14 days, tested twice in border hotel quarantine before release into community. 3 times had "1" case (=13,000 contacts) and shut down each cluster
