15 years ago, I began my journey as a National UN Volunteer. Yesterday, joining 11 @UNVolunteers in #Bhutan for their Foundational Leadership Training was a full-circle moment.
Never underestimate where today’s opportunity can take you. Learn, lead and serve.

On #UNDay let’s remember how powerful the idea of the UN Charter is, what it has accomplished for humanity & what it can do for a more prosperous fairer & peaceful world if we work together. Happy @UN Day @UNSriLanka @PMDNewsGov @Dr_HariniA @HMVijithaHerath @MFA_SriLanka
For 81 years, the @UN has been:
Settling disputes with diplomacy & laws.
Working to eradicate poverty & hunger.
Promoting human rights.
And delivering life-saving aid to people facing war, disaster & displacement.
Today, the United Nations is needed more than ever.
We will continue working to strengthen the UN to best serve people & meet the challenges of our time.
#UNDay
Happy @UN Day! 🇺🇳

Poverty has different faces - a small farmer who can no longer afford fertilizer or seeds, a youth entrepreneur falling into debt and cannot keep their business open, a family who cannot afford flood or health insurance to face a disaster...
Recovery, rebuild, return requires a cushion. @UNDP looks at what sustains decent jobs and incomes, skills and incentives and more to address the multiple risks people face.
Some insights from practice on this Int'l Day for ending poverty: go.undp.org/xfc
And stay tuned next week for the release of our @UNDPasiapac regional flagship report on Redefining Security for Development.
Co-chaired the 2nd PSC of the #AccessToJusticeproject with dean @BhutanLaw. Progress now spans all 20 dzongkhags, with 3 legal aid centres and @Bhutan’s first mobile legal aid initiative reaching 193 people and registering 24 cases. Grateful to our partners and the @EU_in_India
Local engagement is also key for #Bhutan’s economic transformation. On the sidelines of the Future Ready Governance Forum, @UNDP_Bhutan brought together 5 Dzongdas (Governors) and 2 reps from districts to discuss practical collaboration at the dzongkhag (district) level.

This #DRRDay highlights that #ResilienceStartsAtHome. In #Bhutan, see how city planners in Phuentsholing are mapping landslide, flood & ground-stability risks to guide safer development before it expands into new areas, w/ support from UNDP & @cdri_world: undp-bhutan.exposure.co/plan…
#FutureReadyGovernance is not about predicting the future. It is about building institutions that can anticipate change, adapt, learn and continue serving people effectively. Grateful to the Royal Government of #Bhutan, @ChandlerGov and regional partners for a rich dialogue.

Local leadership drives lasting impact. 6 community-based initiatives across #Bhutan are receiving support through the @GEF_SGP, advancing climate resilience, sustainable livelihoods and environmental conservation with US$240,500 in grants and strong co-financing. #ClimateAction
Adapting, Anticipating, and being Agile matters to counteries and for some matters more. But for #Bhutan it can be its superpower. PM @tsheringtobgay at the opening of the governing through change regional forum. @UNDP_Bhutan @UNDPasiapac @ChandlerGov @PMOBhutan @DianaFTorresR
Hon Lyonpo @NamgyalDorji11's msg on #youth, #innovation, #AI, and #entrepreneurship was a timely reminder of the opportunities ahead for #Bhutan’s next generation. Pleased to join partners for the inauguration of the Business Incubation Centre at @RTC_Bhutan @UNDP_Bhutan
It was great to see #SriLanka’s PM @Dr_HariniA visit #Bhutan, invited by @tsheringtobgay for the inaugural Global Conscious Food Systems Summit. As a 🇱🇰 living and working in 🇧🇹, I was pleased to support a few engagements that helped strengthen ties between our two countries.
The most impactful innovation begins with listening. Inspired by the ideas presented at the @btPelsung-TLIF Human-Tiger Coexistence Innovation Challenge, where young Bhutanese entrepreneurs transformed field insights into practical solutions for people, livelihoods and wildlife.
Pleased to join the Board Meeting of the Plastic Waste and #CircularEconomy Project with 9 other @UNDP teams from the region. We reviewed progress in 26 and aligned on priorities for 27. Thanks to TCCF for its support and @UNDPasiapac for coordinating this regional effort.
