The most meaningful lesson I learned during COVID was how to share decision making with families in an authentic and meaningful way. I hope this helps other looking for the same transformation. ✨ @ASCD #waedu

A2: Camille Jones (@farmtableteach) has some excellent advice on conducting empathy interviews, which her district used during the pandemic:

I've been out of the classroom for almost two years now. I love my new job, but I really miss learning from students every day.

This is a great step out of @ISBEnews that #WAedu needs too. It still begs the huge question- how?
With schools back to pre-COVID scheduling, teachers have limited capacity to support remote options.
Small districts can’t staff remote-only teachers for quarantine Ss.
ISBE held a special meeting today to adopt a resolution in support of the State Superintendent making a slight amendment to her previously issued in-person learning declaration.
Following the Board's adoption of the resolution, the State Superintendent declared:

ALT On Sept. 7, 2021, Illinois State Superintendent of Education Dr. Carmen I. Ayala declared: “Beginning with the 2021-22 school year, all schools must resume fully in-person learning for all student attendance days, provided that, pursuant to 105 ILCS 5/10-30 and 105 ILCS 5/34-18.66, remote instruction must be made available for students who are excluded by a school pursuant to 77 Ill. Admin. Code 690.30, or students who are under isolation, quarantine, or adaptive pause consistent with guidance or requirements from a local health department or the Illinois Department of Public Health.”
Hitting a little close to home this morning… yesterday a principal told me this fall has been the hardest of the whole pandemic.
As districts we’re scrambling.
This school year is not what we hoped it would be in June. @chrisreykdal @WA_SBE we’re need updated guidance.
“Everyone had their heads in the sand, and kids will pay the price,” @RbnLake of @CRPE_UW said about remote learning options for students in quarantine buff.ly/3zBKHmV
