It’s a choice responding to clowns , not just a response , a long one.
Mayor, this is a lazy argument, and I think you know exactly what you’re doing with it.
You’re subtly suggesting that people support Peter Obi because he is Igbo. But why must Obi’s supporters automatically abandon him for another candidate just because that person is younger? There are other younger candidates too. Why aren’t you asking why people aren’t voting for them?
Peter Obi is not new to this political game. He has campaigned, built a national support base, contested an election, and secured millions of votes. Despite losing that election, many of those supporters remain firmly behind him. That support didn’t appear overnight.
Now you’re comparing that established movement with someone who has only recently announced his presidential ambition few weeks ago. What exactly do you expect? That millions of people who are currently supporting Peter Obi should suddenly abandon him and transfer their loyalty to someone else?
More importantly, your argument makes it seem as though anyone who isn’t Yoruba or Hausa and supports Peter Obi must automatically be Igbo. Are the Igbo the only other ethnic group in Nigeria? What about Nigerians from other tribes and regions who support him? Do they simply not exist? Peter Obi has supporters across the country, and it is entirely possible that he could receive more votes from outside the South-East than from the entire South-East. That alone should tell you how lazy and misleading this ethnic framing is.
Honestly, when you examine your argument intellectually, what is the actual logic behind it? What exactly are you trying to establish? That people should abandon a candidate they have supported for years simply because another candidate is younger? That because some people support Obi for ethnic reasons, everyone else must have the same motivation? Neither argument makes sense.
You are someone who should know better than to promote this kind of thinking. You can disagree with people without reinforcing ethnic divisions. Your argument has no sound logical foundation, and instead of advancing a meaningful political conversation, you are giving tribalism another excuse to thrive. Mayor, you can do much better than this.

We need him to analyse xenophobia in his own country, a reality today, not fiction, that he has been dodging for years now.
Trevor Noah argues the Avengers are actually the bad guys
“The Avengers is the perfect allegory for the Democrats in America.”
“They like to fight against the bad guy, but they do not like to do anything to prevent bad guyness from happening again.”
“They’re not willing to sacrifice anything to prevent it from happening.”
“At least Thanos had a vision… He was willing to sacrifice something.”

And you can see it clearly in the discussions that followed. Some migrants even started cannibalising themselves: "I earn more than this other group," "I have contributed more," "My job is more dignified than theirs."
The British public did exactly the same thing. It's as though we are no longer talking about human beings, but are negotiating raw labour—debating who should earn their keep based entirely on how well they serve "you" and Empire.
Look at media outlets like GB News discussing how care workers might leave. They are subtly hinting that immigration should be used as a leash—a mechanism to trap vulnerable workers into undesirable jobs & terrible working conditions where they have to "earn" their freedom.
By doing this, people are granting the state the liberty to exploit those they deem "less privileged" than themselves. They completely forget that, in the end, it is class and power that truly divide us.
The irony is that a lot of those cheering this on do not hold that elite status themselves. They fail to realise that these exact same state powers can eventually be turned around and used against them, too.
John Amaechi, "When you listen to this conversation, it's like the policy was make for the apocryphal kind of grotesque stereotype of what an immigrant is"
"Not for real actual people"
"Yes there are fraudsters in this world. Guess what, they're not just black and brown people coming to this country"
"I worked in the NHS for 10 years where migrants doing the jobs that many of us would find the most desirable did it with passion - we stood by as they protected our loved ones in their most vulnerable moment"
"And I'm not saying that that is the picture of all migrants too"
"But surely a more charitable picture than the fraudsters and the connivers, the criminals, somehow - as if we do not have them here in aplenty"
"Any time you look at a policy that starts to tell people coming here that they're only valuable if they make more than this amount of money, then all of us here should look out"
My view:
During the pandemic, we called them essential workers. We applauded them for caring for our parents, cleaning hospital wards and keeping the country going.
Now their wages are being used to question whether they contribute enough to deserve a future here.
Their contribution hasn’t diminished. Politicians have simply found it convenient to stop recognising it.
If someone earns too little while doing work our society depends on, perhaps the problem is how little we pay them. What a cruel response to underpaid care workers: we need you to look after our families, but your wages make you unworthy of settling alongside them.
John Amaechi’s warning should trouble everyone. Once a government starts measuring people’s worth by their salary, millions of us should wonder where that leaves us.
What price do you put on someone holding your mother’s hand through the night? And why would their payslip tell you whether they deserve to stay?

In 2013 Russell Brand “joked” about being a rapist. The audience laughed.
“ I raped someone once,” Brand said in 2013, to raucous laughter from the interviewer and audience.
As @LizKershawDJ writes in her Telegraph article, “Brand was a creation of some of the most powerful players in the media. They were in his thrall. And he was egged on. He was their performing monkey. He made “great telly”. His colleagues were collateral damage.”
Media bosses at the Sun newspaper who celebrated him as “Shagger of the Year” three times (2006, 2007, 2008) and executives who turned a blind eye to his sexual activities with competition winners in BBC lavatories, and allowed him to regale his Radio 2 audience with “what he’d like to do to a newsreader under the desk” should hang their heads in shame.

Israel didn’t even allow them to remove their belongings. The soldiers showed up first thing this morning, threw stun grenades into the apartments and made everyone leave. Then they brought in their bulldozers and demolished everything.
The “reason”? Improper building permits.
The real reason: because they can.
This is what American politicians support. This is what American taxpayers are forced to pay for.
Evil is the only appropriate word.
