We read What Mommies Do Best and learned all about the wonderful things mommies do. Then we took on a fun challenge making a beautiful painted house! It was such a lively and joyful time together 😊

昨夜は大きな雷雨がありました！ 日本に来てからこんなにすごい雷雨はあまり経験していませんでしたが、子どもの頃オクラホマで祖母と一緒に玄関のポーチに座って見ていた雷雨を思い出しました。 子どもたちも全然怖がらず、みんなで雨と稲光を眺め、雷の音を聞きながら過ごしました。 とても温かくて懐かしいひとときでした。💖 Last night there was a big thunderstorm. It was amazing! I haven’t experienced many like it since living in Japan, but it reminded me of sitting on the front porch with my grandmother in Oklahoma and watching storms as a kid. Neither of my kids were scared either! We just sat together watching the rain and lightning through the window, listening to the cracks of thunder. It was such a warm and nostalgic moment. 💖

We read What Mommies/Daddies Do Best by Laura Numeroff, and then made some fun family puppets that the kids can use to play house! We were also very happy to welcome a new student to the class. Everyone had a wonderful time today! 😊

🌞💦 ウォーターパーク 💦🌞 先週末はとても暑かったので、小さなウォーターパークに行ってきました。 最初、龍は人の多さに少し圧倒されていましたが、一緒にスライダーを滑ったらすぐに克服！ その後はずっと「もう一回！もう一回！」の連続でした。😆 🌞💦 Water Park 💦🌞 Last weekend was sunny and hot, so we decided to go to a small water park. At first, Ryu was a little overwhelmed by all the people, but after we rode the slide together he quickly overcame it! After that, it was all: “Again, slide! Again, slide!” 😆

🍔✨ ハッピーセット ✨🍔 週末は長男の龍にハッピーセットを買ってあげました。 今回は特別なコラボがなかったので、店員さんに「かわいいのとカッコいいの、どちらにしますか？」と聞かれて、龍は「カッコいい！」を選択。 開けてみると…昔のハッピーセットの箱の形をしたカッコいい（かわいくもある？）マクドナルドのトランプ！子どもたちは大喜びで遊んでいました♠️♦️ ふと思ったのは、オモチャは毎回サプライズでいいんじゃないかな？ コラボを大体的に宣伝しなくても、「何が出るかな〜♪」とワクワクして箱を開けるのも楽しいし。 そうすれば、大人が転売目的で買い占める問題も減る...はず！😂 🍔✨ Happy Meal ✨🍔 Last weekend we got Ryu a Happy Meal. Since there wasn’t a special tie-in, the cashier asked if I wanted a “cute” or “cool” toy. Naturally, for Ryu, I chose “cool.” When we opened it… it was the “cool” (or maybe cute?) McDonald’s playing cards, shaped like the old Happy Meal boxes I grew up with. Both kids had a blast playing with them! It made me think: maybe the toy should always be a surprise. Instead of advertising the specific tie-in toy, let kids open the box and enjoy the surprise. That way, the toys reach the actual target audience (children) instead of being scooped up by adults buying hundreds just to flip them online... At least that's what I'd hope... 😂

👶✨ 東京インターナショナルスクール勝どきアフタースクールでは、サマースクールの間お休みだったトドラークラスが、今日ついに再開しました！久しぶりのクラス、とても楽しかったで す😊   📚 今日のストーリーは Lauren Thompson の 「Mouse’s First Summer」🐭☀️外遊びや、夏の美味しい食べ物がいっぱいでてくる、ほっこりするお話です。 🎨 クラフトでは、小物を入れられるかわいいスイカのポーチを作りました🍉👜 みんな一生懸命作って、とっても素敵に仕上がりました！✨   👶✨ At our international school in Kachidoki, the toddler class has been on break during summer school, but today was our first week back! It was so much fun 😊   📚 Our story was Mouse’s First Summer by Lauren Thompson, a warm tale about playing outside and enjoying delicious summer food.   🎨 For our craft, the students made cute watermelon pouches that they can use to carry little things around 🍉👜 Everyone did such a great job, and they turned out amazing!

😅 最近のジュリーは、お昼寝を嫌がるお年頃に。。。 上を見上げて「寝ないぞ」って顔をしているので、お昼寝させるのが大変になってきました💦 前は抱っこで揺らせば寝てたのに、今は近くにあるものを見つめてぱっちり目を開けちゃいます👀✨ 頭を動かしたり、おでこをなでたり、いろいろ試したけどうまくいかず...。 でもついに発見しました！🌀 腰をフラフープしているみたいに回すと…ジュリーの目がだんだん閉じていくんです！もう何回か成功しました✨ ということで、パパがジュリーを寝かしつけるときは「フラフープダンス」を踊ることに。外から見たらおかしい人だけど、寝てくれるならオールオッケーです🤣 😅 Julie is getting to the age where she’s trying hard to stay awake. She’ll look up and focus on something above her so she can’t close her eyes. Honestly, it’s pretty effective, and it’s become a real challenge to get her to nap. Rocking used to work, but now she finds things to the side and keeps her eyes open. I tried moving her head, gently brushing her forehead, and anything else I could think of, but nothing really worked. Finally, I discovered the secret! 🌀 If I move my hips like I’m playing with an invisible hula hoop, her eyes start to close. It’s worked a few times already. So now, when it’s papa’s turn to put Julie down for her nap, I break out the invisible hula hoop. It must look ridiculous from the outside, but hey, whatever works, right? 🤣

ここ数日、夏休みでオフィスを離れていました☀️ その間に新しいエアコンが設置されて、ようやくリビングで快適に過ごせるようになりました！❄️🏠 本当に暑すぎる1週間でしたが、やっと普段の生活リズムに戻れるのが嬉しいです😊 I was out of the office for a few days for summer ☀️ But during that time we finally had a new air conditioner installed, and now I can finally relax in my living room again! ❄️🏠 It was a ridiculously hot week, but I’m happy that I can get back to my old routines now! 😊

テクノロジーの進化って、本当にすごいですよね💻⚡️ そのスピードが実感できる一例が「ハードディスク」です。 私が初めてパソコンを手にしたのは4歳のとき。 IBMの386で、5.25インチ（約13cm）のハードディスクが付いていました。 容量はなんと20MB！ 当時は「これだけあれば十分！」と思っていました😂 その後は3.5インチ、2.5インチとどんどん小さくなり、今では超高速で超小型のNVMeドライブに。 写真ではサイズ感が伝わるように500円玉を置いてみました。🪙✨ 改めて、技術の進歩ってすごいですね！ Technology is amazing, and it moves ridiculously fast. 💻⚡️ One of the easiest ways to see this is by looking at hard drives. I got my first computer when I was 4 years old. It was an old IBM 386 with a 5.25” 20MB hard drive. Yes, 20MB! And back then we really thought, “That’s all the space we’ll ever need!” 😂 Later they shrank to 3.5”, then 2.5”, and now we have NVMe drives that are insanely faster and much smaller. I added a 500 yen coin in the picture so you can see just how tiny they are. 🪙✨ Isn’t technology amazing?
