💬 on the way to work, do you take the bus sitting down or standing up?
🌙 first of all, i have to stand. no matter what. let me tell you about the time i take the bus. at the time i take it, i absolutely have to stand. so i guess the bus comes from quite far away. for me, it's already certain that i will be standing. but how should i say this? i honestly don't really understand what people are thinking. there’s actually space inside, but people don't move further inside. everyone is gathered right by the entrance, and you can't get in. but if you look over there, there's actually a lot of space. i mean, it's not space where you can sit down, but there's plenty of room to stand. there’s lots of room to stand, but everyone keeps crowding around the entrance. it gets so packed right up to the entrance that it makes me wonder if they're trying to tell me not to come in. but you know, there are always people who take that bus regularly. i don't know if the people who take that route all know this too, but over there… there’s someone who takes it every day. but when i get on, that person gets off about one or two stops later. it seems like that person always gets on early, so they always sit at the very back. actually, that's good for me. these people are all staying by the entrance. haven’t they figured it out? that’s what i think. since that person is at the very back, i go all the way up to the space in front of them and stand there. usually, that person is at the very end, so i just have to go to the end too. there’s plenty of space at the back.
but everyone doesn't squeeze their way through that space. they just stay by the entrance. so i have this little... how should i put it? i have this kind of tip, so i do that. but if i look and that person isn't there, then it's like, 'ah, i guess I'm going to have to stand today.' that's the feeling. 'ah, i guess i'll be standing today.' i just zone out like that. then occasionally, if i’m lucky and a seat suddenly becomes available, i quickly move and take it. yes, it's really exhausting. how should i say this? ah, am i even making sense? anyway, i realized there are little tricks like that when riding the bus.
🌙 you know, i shouldn't hesitate. the moment i hesitate when there's a seat, someone takes my spot. don't think about whether you should sit down or not. don't think about it. unless there’s an elderly person, someone vulnerable, or someone who needs priority seating, don't hesitate. don't hesitate. elderly people, vulnerable people, and those who need priority seating are exceptions. for elderly people and those who are vulnerable, everyone should naturally make way for them. we do have that much humanity, at least. but if someone looks around the same age as me, or doesn't seem to have any difficulty moving around at all, then usually, during that brief moment when i’m hesitating and thinking, 'ah, should i sit here or not?', the seat disappears. they quickly take it. so i thought, 'ah, so i shouldn't hesitate.' i learned that this is how things work in this world, too. but everyone, if there are elderly people or people who are particularly vulnerable, you absolutely have to give up your seat for them. okay? if that's not the case, don't hesitate.
