Somebody has to ban people who do unvetted vibe-coding of sloppy products people don't care about from AI subscriptions.
This way, AI companies would be loaded less, and could scale down, and sell memory, GPUs, which leads to those (and AI subscriptions) getting cheaper.
Basically following the law of supply and demand. There would be way less demand from vibe-coders, but supply can stay the same (or even be smaller), leading to AI getting cheaper for non-vibe-coders.
⚠️ Even more stress for system administrators?
This time Indian intermediate CA certificates (used by Indian government websites) got revoked.
First PHP, and now Indian CA certificates?? 😰
⚠️ Be careful with blocking for "AI replies"
Give them a chance. They may not know AI replies break trust. Or might not even use AI for that at all.
If you block instantly, you might block legit people. They just lose trust in you, and can even make others boycott your product.
To anyone building Fathom Analytics (just unblocked both co-founder's and product profile),
I can give you a chance: You stop blocking innocent people for "AI replies" (I can guide why this damages trust), I then stop the campaign to boycott Fathom and delete anti-Fathom posts.
CC: @usefathom , @JackEllis
There's hope you can improve.
I know I might be throwing a hissy fit, but I want to settle down with the situation.
Sysadmins working for "boring" small-to-medium companies:
- not getting much hype
- using technologies that just work
- maintaining foundations of the society
- have time to relax and live with family
- not as stressed about "falling behind"
😌
OK, blocked both Fathom analytics culprits.
If you're using that, use Plausible (which can be self-hosted) or Matomo (if you prefer strictly PHP, which can be also self-hosted). Just anything but Fathom.
The now only co-founder (?) blocks even some legit people as "AI replies".
We know it's venting, but we're going to stay more with Plausible.
To add insult of the injury, the founder might be engaging in vibe-coding (see Cursor Ultra, Claude Max 20x, ChatGPT Plus post, and other posts talking about AI).
Oh no, I also got blocked because of supposedly "AI reply"... 😢
If you want analytics by the way (see the OP), just use @PlausibleHQ . Or Matomo if you want strictly PHP.
I'm sorry. An objection about just making working analytics got us blocked as an AI reply. 🥲
Please at least check if the account is a high-risk account (lots of accounts who do AI reply slop do it in bulk).
Or maybe we DO reply often. Of course, there are human accounts who can often reply. Or maybe we're just replying quite often to make contact (being a "reply guy")?
So please, don't witch-hunt those "AI replies".
"Congratulations" Jack, we lost considerations on Fathom, because of that. We would push @PlausibleHQ (or its self-hosted counterpart, Plausible CE) instead of that! And Plausible CE is working analytics.
