We need to talk about this because this video is scary but it is very true.
That hole you are seeing in the video is a cracked engine block. That is the worst damage an engine can get. Once the block cracks like that, the engine is finished. No repair, you just buy another engine.
And one of the main reasons it happens is what this video is warning about. Revving your engine immediately you start your car.
When your car has been parked overnight, or for many hours, all the oil has gone down to the oil pan. The top of the engine, the pistons, the bearings, the camshaft, they are all dry for the first few seconds.
When you start the car and you just allow it to idle, the oil pump will slowly push oil up and lubricate everything gently. That takes like 30 seconds to 1 minute.
But when you start and you immediately start revving, vroom vroom, you are forcing dry metal to rub against dry metal at very high speed. No oil, no protection. That creates heat, it creates wear, and over time it can crack the block, break a piston, or throw a rod out like in this video.
It is even worse in the morning when the engine is cold. Cold oil is thick, it moves slowly. Cold metal is also tight. So revving a cold engine is like making someone run full speed immediately they wake up from sleep, without stretching.
That is why we always say, start your car, wait small, let the rev drop down by itself, then you drive gently. You do not need to warm it for 10 minutes. Just 30 seconds to 1 minute, then drive slowly for the first few minutes. That is enough.
Your engine will last longer, your fuel will be better, and you will not end up like the engine in this video.

MAGNUS CARLSEN: One big thing was long-term king safety. Humans used to push pawns mainly as an attacking tool. But the engines showed that you could push a pawn and create a weakness 20 or 30 moves later that would make the opponent’s king less safe.
JOE ROGAN: So the computer basically showed you ideas that humans weren’t seeing.
MAGNUS CARLSEN: Exactly. There was a period where you could clearly see which players were using these new neural-network ideas and which weren’t.
JOE ROGAN: And you were one of the guys who figured it out early?
MAGNUS CARLSEN: Yeah. My coach got into it very quickly, and we gained an advantage over almost everybody.
JOE ROGAN: That’s insane. The machines aren’t just better at calculating, they’re actually teaching the best players how to think differently.
MAGNUS CARLSEN: That’s probably the biggest impact they’ve had on chess.

Cyprus has begun forcibly returning Syrian nationals whose asylum applications were definitively rejected, becoming one of the few European Union countries carrying out compulsory returns to Syria.
Deputy Migration Minister Nicholas Ioannides confirmed on November 3 that the first deportations had taken place in cooperation with Cypriot police and other government agencies.
More than 5,000 Syrian asylum applications have been rejected since December 2024, while approximately 6,000 Syrians have already returned voluntarily and another 6,000 have expressed their intention to leave.
Cypriot authorities are also accelerating the rejection of unfounded asylum applications and withdrawing subsidiary protection from individuals who no longer qualify.
The government previously introduced financial incentives for voluntary returns, including €2,000 per adult and €1,000 per child under a program launched in 2025.
Ioannides announced that inspections targeting illegal residence and undeclared employment will intensify in the coming months, with employers and landlords urged to cooperate with authorities.
