Goosebumps! People often ask, is Shakespeare still relevant? Here is a great example, from the Steven Colbert Show, in which Sir Ian McKellen delivers an extraordinary speech. Shakespeare’s words are timeless, urgent and important. #Shakespeare #ianmckellen #stevencolbert

I have not laughed so much all year since the first time I saw this video last year. It's the boy in the green trousers. I need to find him and thank him.

🚨 Scotland has now labelled a staggering 299,445 pupils as having additional support needs. That is 43% of all children in our schools. In 2007, it was around 5% . Are we seriously expected to believe that nearly half of Scotland’s children are now officially in need of special support? Of course not. Something else is driving this. There are clearly perverse incentives running through the system for both schools and parents, and the result is an inflation of labels that simply doesn’t reflect reality. It’s a bureaucratic miracle cure that cures nothing, and it risks doing real harm to the very children it claims to champion.
🚨 NEW: A record 299,445 pupils in Scotland have been identified as having 'additional support needs' (ASN), such as autism, dyslexia, or mental health problems, according to figures for 2025 released today. Roughly 5% of all pupils had ASNs in 2007; this now stands at 43%.

My goal as a journalist is to report carefully on the best, most practical social policy ideas that can change the world, and this is easily the most exciting one I’ve had the opportunity to cover this year. I hope you'll read it 🧵↓

Not having a solid sense of self is dissociative in nature. Dissociation is the body/mind innate defence utilized when death feels imminent. Dissociation is fuelled by fear. It’s a state that is swimming in terror. Not having a solid sense of self is a trauma response.

I invite people to read this slowly. Dissociative Identity Disorder, where it seems like there are different senses of selves, often experienced as different genders, is 100% a trauma response from both maternal neglect and paternal (can be step) torture (can be maternal as well)

IF I GET DEMENTIA….. I’d like my family to hang this wish list up on the wall where I live. I want them to remember these things. 1a. Every time you enter the room announce yourself. “Hi Dad - it’s Amanda.” NEVER ask- Do you know who I am??? That causes anxiety. • If I get dementia, I want my friends and family to embrace my reality. • If I think my spouse is still alive, or if I think we’re visiting my parents for dinner, let me believe those things. I’ll be much happier for it. • If I get dementia, don’t argue with me about what is true for me versus what is true for you. • If I get dementia, and I am not sure who you are, do not take it personally. My timeline is confusing to me. • If I get dementia, and can no longer use utensils, do not start feeding me. Instead, switch me to a finger-food diet, and see if I can still feed myself. • If I get dementia, and I am sad or anxious, hold my hand and listen. Do not tell me that my feelings are unfounded. • If I get dementia, I don’t want to be treated like a child. Talk to me like the adult that I am. • If I get dementia, I still want to enjoy the things that I’ve always enjoyed. Help me find a way to exercise, read, and visit with friends. • If I get dementia, ask me to tell you a story from my past. • If I get dementia, and I become agitated, take the time to figure out what is bothering me. • If I get dementia, treat me the way that you would want to be treated. • If I get dementia, make sure that there are plenty of snacks for me in the house. Even now if I don’t eat I get angry, and if I have dementia, I may have trouble explaining what I need. • If I get dementia, don’t talk about me as if I’m not in the room. • If I get dementia, don’t feel guilty if you cannot care for me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It’s not your fault, and you’ve done your best. Find someone who can help you, or choose a great new place for me to live. With a bus and activities!! • If I get dementia, and I live in a dementia care community, please visit me often. • If I get dementia, don’t act frustrated if I mix up names, events, or places. Take a deep breath. It’s not my fault. • If I get dementia, make sure I always have my favorite music playing within earshot. • If I get dementia, and I like to pick up items and carry them around, help me return those items to their original place. • If I get dementia, don’t exclude me from parties and family gatherings. • If I get dementia, know that I still like receiving hugs or handshakes. • If I get dementia, remember that I am still the person you know and love.” ᴄᴏᴘʏ ᴀɴᴅ ᴘᴀsᴛᴇ in Honor of someone you know or knew who has dementia. In Honor of all those I know and love and lost who are fighting Dementia/Alzheimer’s.

Heaven forbid we hold selfish and disrespectful human beings to account for being the only risk to these beautiful horses. Shameful that they should need to be removed. 😞😠

The human mind, in no uncertain terms, evolved to calm fear. The only way for this to occur is to be constantly safe and secure starting in utero, in infancy, in toddlerhood, childhood and adolescence. This is the role our parents are supposed to play. Nurturing is how we do this

Here are the most effective sentences to say during an appointment to help you feel you’re being taken seriously 🧵 I was honoured to be invited to @tessysbrunches Elevate HER, hosted by the incredible @tessyojo and @mabintyesho One of the key questions I was asked at the fireside chat was that many women struggle to advocate for themselves in medical settings, often dismissed or overlooked. How can women find and use their voice in these moments? This is something I covered in my book 📖 The Knowledge. Your guide to female health from Menstruation to the Menopause. 🔗linktr.ee/drnighatarif I hope this post helps - save for later 💕 : : 📸 a HUGE thank you to the amazing @PALAssociates2 for these candid pictures of me 👗 @aabcollection
