Mostly read-only around here these days, but old friends and ye olde MSP Twitter nerds keep me coming back.
Y’all kinda make me miss being terminally online, at least until my feed ends up derailed by junk I haven’t blocked yet. 😂
Just placed my first McMaster Carr order in almost two years and fired up the ol’ 3D printer. We’re so back. Nothing like a simple project to get the momentum to climb out of a deep slump. After all, this ADSB antenna ain’t gonna mount itself to my window.
Crazy storm, pretty aftermath sky from 12 floors up. Was really intense for 15 min or so, visibility dropped under 1/4 mile and I hunkered down away from the with does. I hope everyone is alright out there.
This isn’t a new phenomenon. I walked away from shooting the @foofighters 2011 tour opener for @citypages. Thankfully
my editor, @SlingshotAnnie, was very supportive and wrote a great article about it, spurring some valuable conversations at the time.

Why I've turned down a photopass for @foofighters show in Manchester this weekend. A thread:
When I was deep into my photo career I took a workshop (an expensive one) with a successful legacy catalog photog in MPLS. We had a good long chat about biz and his advice to me: “Never work with unsophisticated photo buyers”. I was like, “I’m in the wrong business for that 😂” – at Minneapolis, MN

The truth is, most clients aren't experts on copyright or licensing. They just know how they want to use the images most of the time. It's up to you as a photographer to understand the needs of your clients and value your work accordingly. This requires understanding licensing.
Already missing the ol’ Stone Arch. my daily walks won’t be the same. 😢
Hope the two-year refurb stays on schedule.
Anyone have links to local news stories or planning docs with details on the how/why/when of the project? – at Minneapolis, MN
Was able to quickly find the MN DOT page for the project, which has some useful details. dot.state.mn.us/metro/projec… – at Minneapolis, MN
Excited to get a fresh new Bus Pirate 5 REV10 in the mail today! Tested it out by reading some I2C data from an @adafruit SHTC3 board, worked great.
Congrats on getting this sweet hacker tool out to the people, @dangerousproto! Love the cables and the case, so cool.

As repairable as the LCD #SteamDeck (@OnDeck) is - most parts are available on @iFixit - the L1/R1 bumper buttons are really difficult to self-repair.
This easily damaged board can’t be replaced without factory service since it contains a calibration-related microcontroller. 🫠

ALT A close up view of a damaged Steam Deck “right buttons” circuit board with the R1 tactile switch/button replaced by a compatible E-Switch model TL3340AF160QG tactile switch. The middle of the three solder pads for the switch is missing due to impact damage and a very small loop of thin copper magnet wire has been soldered to the pad’s nearby via in an attempt to replace it.
Looks like this little guy is gonna have to be shipped off to @valvesoftware for a proper (paid) repair.
If anyone’s curious, I found the replacement switch over at @DigiKey. Would’ve worked great if the center solder pad wasn’t missing altogether. 😩

This is such a great idea! Guess I’m gonna start the new year hunting for some Pantone matched filament. 🤓😎 – at Minneapolis, MN

Considering being social tonight, despite being immunocompromised. Trying to calibrate risk assessment is so difficult even with the great health resources we have here in Minnesota.

And yeah, still scarred from last year’s illness. 106-degree fever was terrifying. Stuck with persistent, loud tinnitus and lingering cardiovascular changes after that episode too, even a year later. Pretty eager to not repeat that, or anything like it. – at Minneapolis, MN
