It took a while for me to accept it, but I have to agree with some people that 🦋 is getting so much better than here.
Find me there at @flaviaerius.bsky.social!
Amei!

A small request for conference season: please stop letting Claude design all your slides. We can tell. They all look the same.
When writing tweets/emails/phrases in English I'm not so sure about, I've been using Google Translator -- as the Incas did -- to find out if it is roughly correct.
It does not introduce AI slop, and preserve my style of writing.
Chat vs. workflow vs. agent evaluation in a medical evaluation (patient), shows that for this context agent means better quality by the lowest cost.
Extracted from the great presentation by Timothy Keyes at #positconf2026.

Love the intro video of #positconf2026! Happy to have contributed to a small part of it, by telling my story and my "what if".
Congrats to the team for the amazing work!

Overanalysis has been my life story. It can be far worse than laziness, as overanalysis leads to the same lack of action but ALSO self-loathing.
What helped me quite a bit was studying military history, military strategy, and decisive battles. The stories informed how I overcame paralysis by analysis.
Step one is set deadlines for decisions.
In warfare, you rarely have complete information, and if you wait to push certainty from 75% to 85%, say, that lag time could cause you to lose advantage and opportunity. It's the same in many parts of life.
So I set deadlines. By X point in time, I must make a go or no-go decision, no matter how much or how little information I have. Furthermore, I try and figure out small, short-term, low-risk experiments I can run as "go" decisions, so that I don't perceive action as high-risk.
In short: Set deadlines for decisions (put them in your calendar or they aren't real) and break large intimidating actions/projects into tiny mini-experiments that allow you to overcome fear of failure.
Once you have a little momentum, the paralysis usually disappears on its own.

Excited to share our review @NatureRevCancer! We cover all that we, as a field, learned from our efforts to understand genotype to phenotype interactions in cancer and somatic evolution. We also cover what future measurement technologies can take us in this domain.

OPENAI COFOUNDER SAYS EMOTIONS MAY BE WHY WE CAN MAKE DECISIONS
ilya brings up a guy who lost emotional processing after brain damage. he could still talk normally and solve problems, but somehow became terrible at making basic decisions
"It would take him hours to decide on which socks to wear."
we spend so much time treating emotions like the annoying part of thinking. calm down, remove the feelings, be logical
then you remove them completely and even choosing socks becomes a serious problem
kinda changes how i look at AI advice too. it can give you 20 perfectly reasonable answers in seconds, but somebody still has to care which outcome actually matters
you can understand every option and still not know which one matters to you

I’m hiring a computational postdoc to join our lab at St. Jude!
The project combines single-cell and spatial genomics with AI/ML to identify therapeutic targets for pediatric cancers. Please share!

Today, I’m open-sourcing /fuck-cancer, an AI skill that helps patients and caregivers navigate cancer diagnosis and treatment and advocate for themselves and their loved ones.
Here’s what patients and caregivers have told me since I shared my mom’s story:
“You have to be a huge patient advocate. Ask questions and push for answers, biopsies, and proper testing.”
“I need help navigating difficult conversations and advocating for myself.”
“The volume of doctors, documents, and insurance paperwork can quickly become overwhelming.”
I built the skill to help with these problems. It creates and updates a practical brief with five sections:
1. Patient and care-team information for easy reference during calls
2. What to do next, limited to three specific actions
3. What we know, separating confirmed facts from what remains unclear
4. Medical terms explained in plain English
5. A care log with recent updates and decisions
It builds this brief from documents, and context you provide. When research is needed, it uses trusted sources such as the National Cancer Institute and the ClinicalTrials gov API.
I use it with ChatGPT/Codex and Claude Code to prepare for conversations and research. It can save the brief locally as a Markdown file or update a shareable Google Doc so the whole family can work from the same information.

If you find it useful, please ⭐ the repo and share it with someone going through this BS disease.

Folks, allow me to brag about my wife, Jane. She is the head of a group of scientists working on a personalized mRNA vaccine for melanoma. It was announced that the results of her years-long study showed prevention of the cancer--a huge finding. From today's Wall Street Journal:
Inativar a auto-correção e auto-capitalização é incrivelmente muito melhor para algumas situações.
Por exemplo, tenho escrito no diário do celular, e aí prefiro mil vezes escrever sem auto-correção.

Every college syllabus should include these graphs.
Use AI for homework, you will get it done faster and get a higher grade, and then get crushed on the exam.
