I live in a women’s shelter. I do not want the doors to be opened to unknown, potentially dangerous men. This is my home, many of the women here are highly traumatised. Having to share private living spaces with these men will be unbearably damaging. The service provider doesn’t want them here, but they are scared that they’ll be breaking the law if they don’t allow the men to infiltrate our home. The EA as it stands is not working to protect people, public understanding within establishments is confusing, and they are too scared of challenging this because they fear the repercussions (loss of funding etc)… so the women are left to ‘just deal with it’.
