NASA가 공개한 화성의 밤하늘(4K 해상도)
Readers added context they thought people might want to know

Harsh but true! Offices have sooo many benefits
I think people underestimate how much personal freedom is available to a man who is physically at the office You can get coffee, take a walk, have lunch with somebody, spend 40 minutes discussing college football, or just sit quietly and think All of this is understood to be part of working Try doing the same things at home and suddenly there are questions about what exactly you've been doing all day

I mean look, AI is hard. I’ve been wrong about many aspects of it and most of the smartest people I follow have been wrong about *something.* But Ed has been claiming peak AI for more than two years. This is almost literally like covering the Intel IPO in 1971 by bringing on somebody who claimed that Moore’s Law (written in 1965) had peaked in 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, and 1970. It’s not illegal to do this, but your source is confidently commenting on a phenomenon his previous commentary considered impossible.
“Is this just a big circle jerk?” Jon welcomes Ed Zitron (@edzitron), host of the podcast Better Offline, to make sense of the financial house of cards propping up AI and big tech. New pod out now!

I said this elsewhere but reposting as people seem to be surprised that Zitron hasn't crawled back into his hole since the Anthropic S1 came out and invalidated everything he has ever said: He’s never going to stop, because he sells a valuable service (cope for the sidelined). There’s a lot of sidelined people and they require a huge amount of cope, so he will continue being a cope merchant. Being “wrong” is besides the point. Do people still need to cope with the fact that they missed the biggest investment theme of the last 100 years? Yes, so he’ll keep selling. He will eventually pivot to "AI is popular and makes money, but it's bad / exploitative / evil / dangerous," never once acknowledging that he was wrong on the bubble calling or the financial aspect. So when you see Zitron on Jon Stewart taking an un-earned victory lap post Ant S1, understand that nothing he's doing or saying has any tether to financial reality or the business environment. There's millions of people out there that desperately need someone to affirm their beliefs (that AI is fraudulent / invalid / a bubble). He will do that for them. It is of course useful to keep totting up his falsified predictions so that eventually the sheer weight of his idiocy becomes too much to resist, but I don't expect the sidelined will start reasoning rationally anytime soon; their objection is emotional, not empirical.

This is absolutely astounding. That Australian journalists are targeted like this is beyond belief. Thank goodness ASIO was on top of it.
When I received a message from a former Trump administration official in August, asking me to meet with his team at a prestigious think-tank, I never could have imagined I was conversing with an Iranian intelligence agent. It was the start of a two-month sting - described by ASIO chief Mike Burgess as "sophisticated and targeted" - that ended with the notorious Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps gaining access to my personal emails and details in a major security breach. The message from a former senior Trump administration contact I forged through my Wuhan reporting, who has a prominent profile with hundreds of thousands of followers, came on August 18 this year. I had worked with him on my investigation into the origins of Covid-19. I trusted him and had met him in person during one of his visits to Australia. Unbeknownst to either of us, his genuine X account had been infiltrated by an Iranian operative, using the ‘delegate feature’ on X, which gives a third party access to manage and operate your account. 🇦🇺 Australia: Iran’s IRGC ran a 2-month cyber sting on Australian journalist Sharri Markson — ASIO has confirmed the operation and warns of assassination risk on Australian soil. Iran’s IRGC (Charming Kitten) impersonated a former Trump official, spent two months socially engineering Sharri Markson, then accessed her personal emails and Google Drive. ASIO confirmed the hit. @News24Aust host @SharriMarkson

Kinda crazy that we dig copper out of rock and aluminum out of bauxite, melt the copper and plate it pure, dissolve the aluminum in molten cryolite and run so much damn current through it that the oxygen lets go, draw both metals down into wire, string that wire for miles, spin a magnet inside a coil of it by boiling water or damming a river, and the electrons in the wire creep slower than a walk while the push runs the length of it near the speed of light, and that push can knock a photon out of a speck of matter, and a few million of those specks behind glass and plastic, flipped on and off in milliseconds rendering a moving picture of anything anyone has seen or invented. oh yeah and we use this primarily to make the lights dance on that box to entertain ourselves.

It’s kinda crazy to me that we melt sand down, clean it to 99.99999% purity, literal wizards have to draw it slowly into an ingot, we cut it, inscribe a hundred billion little on/off switches on it, and when you run electric current through it you can do basic arithmetic, which when you do enough of it can do any math on the planet, and which describes reality well enough that we can teach it the ontological meaning of words and their distance from each other on a high-dimensional space, and if you ask, it can tell you what word comes next and that apparently is powerful enough that if you do it a hundred billion times it’s the smartest thing to ever exist oh yeah and we use this primarily for email

FT comments never miss. I don’t think I’ve read such a rational analysis of the situation we’re in for a long time.
I've been in France since 2002 and have never seen the streets so violent nor the politics so extreme. From the sacking of the supermarket on my street to the prospect of Présidente Le Pen, here's me @FT including thoughts from 2 French Nobel laureates as.ft.com/r/addcad57-0f9d-4e…

Wake up. Every profession deemed white-collar, the middle class dream, is about to be decimated by AI, at a much faster pace than anticipated, with monstrous social consequences.
