Worth noting that the White House claims that Venezuelan crude was sold at "no cost" to the US. But NABEP says: "The cargo is part of the U.S. government's right to purchase 20% of NABEP's production AT COST with no markup, a provision of the company's August agreement with the U.S. Departments of State and War."

ExxonMobil, Citgo to Process Oil From Trump’s Venezuela Deal (Bloomberg) -- ExxonMobil Holdings Corp and Citgo Petroleum Corp are the first American fuelmakers to use Venezuelan oil produced under a controversial deal that granted the US a piece of the country’s vast oil riches. The companies are recipients of 1 million barrels of Merey 16 shipped by North American Blue Energy, according to a US official. The oil is part of a deal where Nabep granted the US Defense department a stake in its corporate parent, along with the right to purchase 20% of the oil Nabep produces at production cost. The oil that arrived in Corpus Christi, Texas, was sold to the US at production cost, Nabep said in a statement. Nabep, Venezuela’s largest private oil producer after Chevron Corp., is pumping about 200,000 barrels a day and plans to keep on expanding following the arrival of new rigs and equipment. The company’s near-term goal is to produce more than 1 million barrels a day of oil. The Nabep agreement with the US, announced in late August, ruffled feathers in both the US and Venezuela after the deal gave the US control over much of the nation’s crude wealth.

I'm thrilled to be launching Econvitals today. It's been the main way in which I have been tracking and understanding the economy over the last several months. And I decided I might as well share it with all of you--for free. Has a combo of website, email lists & social media.

Another crazy story from Venezuela by @kejalvyas "Politically motivated jailings and the seizure of private businesses—live on under Maduro’s successor, Delcy Rodríguez, and the U.S. government apparatus that controls much of the interim leadership now." wsj.com/world/americas/venez…
