Client interview goes beyond knowing the law. Knowledge of the law is very important, so is the knowledge of human interaction.
To a client, a lawyer is not just one who goes to court for them, but they see and believe their lawyer to be one who shares their story and troubles with them. They believe that what annoys them, annoys you and what borders them, also borders you.
They must at all times feel connected with you. This is why a lawyer must show empathy to the client. Proper reactions to a client story during interview is what opens the door for truth to come out. And a lawyer is good with all the facts, and another is a way better lawyer with all the true facts.
You should master facial reactions when listening to a client.
You must not find their story funny and laugh, when it is not. And, you must know when to show empathy through your looks and what comes out of your mouth.
This is how you get a client relaxed and free to let you in on the true state of their story and not the version they think you can handle.

Lawyers is there any day you sleep without thinking of a particular case. Omoo no be small work we dey do
When you identity as a dispute resolution lawyer, most conclude it is litigation. Dispute Resolution is more than that.
A Dispute Resolution Lawyer is one who is skilled in resolving issues right from it's bud stage before it blooms. Dispute resolution must not necessarily be to litigate in court, but other forms of settlement is also Dispute resolution.
A good Dispute resolution lawyer is one who knows when to adopt alternative dispute resolution mechanisms before approaching the court if and when necessary.
And, when you adopt this alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, you must be open minded and ready to adjust grounds to achieve the best outcome.
This is what I did recently while representing a client in a closed door mediation meeting, and weighing all possible routes, I advised as it appears best to me for the client and happy it resolved the dispute, this is what DISPUTE RESOLUTION is about.
I once went for a mediation between our client and an ex employee.
At the meeting, I decided to advice the organisation to adjust their original stand, not because their stand was not good enough, but because the adjustment would save them time, expense, and reputation.
I actually thought I lost them, days to the adjourned date, they reached out to go on with the adjustment. The mediation ended on the second meeting.
At times the public do not see the truth loudly as the accusations, that's the point.

It simply means NOT GUILTY.
The reason or reasons would either be SELF DEFENCE, PROVOCATION OR ACCIDENT.
I was in court today to witness one of the most dramatic turn of events
After the charge was read to the Defendant and he was asked if he was guilty or not He said:
My lord i am guilty with explanation
In yoruba parlance
Oluwa mi mo jebi pelu alaye
E be like say the defendant has watched too much Nigerian movies
