Gaming used to be an escape.
Now it feels like a scoreboard.
Back then we logged on to forget real life, meet randoms who turned into homies, stay up way too late just because the vibes were right. No metas, no algorithms, no “is this content? just fun. We played because we loved it.
Now everything’s numbers,
Views, KD, Earnings, Clout.
The community used to build each other up. Now we gatekeep, ego trip, and tear down anyone who’s new or different. Instead of asking “how can we make this better?” we ask “what can I gain from this?”
Gaming went from passion → performance.
From creativity → copy-paste.
From community → competition for attention.
Somewhere along the way, we forgot that gaming was never supposed to be a job for everyone. It was supposed to be a place to belong. A place where skill mattered, but personality mattered more. Where memories mattered more than metrics.
The saddest part?
We did this to ourselves.
If we want gaming to feel alive again, it starts with the community remembering why we fell in love with it in the first place.
Not for clout.
Not for money.
But for the joy of playing.
