Hosted my schools’s first smartphone free working group yesterday with parents. We had some brilliant discussions from pressure on parents, homework online and the different pressures for boys and girls (gaming v social media). Excited to implement and see positive change.

Questions to ask your child What things are you looking forward to? Is there anything you want to talk about? When was the last time you were very happy? What makes you feel calm? What difficulties are you facing now? What can I do to help? Where is a place you feel safe? How are you finding things at school at the moment? What things would you like to do in the future? Would it be helpful if we planned each day together? Do you have any worries about the coronavirus? Where in our home do you feel like you can have your own space? What are you worried about when you lie in bed and can't sleep? Can you show me what you like about gaming? How do you feel about things changing? What do you think could help you feel better? What have you enjoyed about today?

🚨BREAKING: New figures show the Government has recruited only 52% of the trainee secondary teachers it needs, despite offering huge bursaries. Ministers must tackle the big issues of declining pay and funding, increased workload and the unreasonable pressures of Ofsted – tinkering won’t fix this crisis #ValueEducation “Teaching is a vocation, yet this Government is clearly failing to do enough to keep teachers and attract more. For children, this is leading directly to a discontinuity in their education. A Government which truly had education at the heart of its priorities would not tolerate this situation. You would probably not put bleach and children together but today our year 6 pupils upcycled some of their old clothes during this bleach art workshop. The results were fab. Combatting fast fashion! #educacion #Sustainability
