My dad is 75 and lives in Iowa. He got the MLB Extra Innings package to watch the Tigers again this year - something he plans his whole day around.
Tonight, Detroit (664 miles from his house) hosted Milwaukee (360 miles from his house). Couldn't watch. Blacked out. (1/2)

Ramesh's final chemotherapy treatment is tomorrow. In your charity, please pray for @RameshPonnuru this week--that his health will be completely restored. He is deeply loved, as our friends and family have demonstrated so well over these last eight months. ❤️🙏

The most important rounds of shoveling are the ones you do initially when the ground is still warm enough to melt the snow. Clear that early snowfall quickly, because it will melt and freeze again, and then you will not be able to get rid of it. You want your pavement to be clear when the ground temp goes below freezing.

Clear the snow off *all* surfaces of your vehicle. Start with the roof, unless you prefer doing your windshield twice.
New to snow? Here are some tips from someone who has been there.
First, DO NOT SALT your driveway until the snow has completely stopped falling and you have cleared everything. If you salt while snow is still falling, the snow will just melt and then freeze again and create an ice rink. For private driveways and sidewalks, salt is for AFTER the snow stops.
Second, shovel and keep shoveling on the regular as long as the snow keeps falling. Try to push the snow pile a foot or two past the edge of your driveway or sidewalk. Remember: This pile might not melt until April or May.
Third, remember your elderly neighbors. Help them out by shoveling their walks.

No, it's trauma.
My latest in @WSJFreeEx is about one of my biggest pet peeves: the tendancy to call just about everything "trauma" or "abuse."
It's okay to just be heartbroken or disappointed! Those feelings matter too!

January 6th will always be an important part of our nation's history.
It will forever be remembered as the day our great nation welcomed the legendary Lou Holtz into the world!
Happy Birthday, Coach! 🙏☘️ – at Nappanee, IN

I went to USC. I can’t stand Notre Dame. And there is zero justification, absolutely zero, for Alabama being in the playoff over Notre Dame. This system is a joke and needs a complete overhaul.

Ohio St lost and fell.
BYU lost and fell.
Virginia lost and fell.
What happened when Alabama got dominated while racking up -3 rushing yards?

I don’t blame Notre Dame one bit for deciding not to play in a Bowl Game when they should have been playing for a chance to win the National Championship in the College Football Playoff.

it's cool to see that this game's starting pitcher is still hanging in there

Imagine where Utah would be right now if they had just kicked field goals each time they had the chance on 4th down.

There's an old story from the Clinton admin that I'm probably misremembering. One of his close aides said "I'm with you, even if your rating goes down to 5%."
Clinton was touched, but the aide went on, "But if it hits 4%, then forget it, you're on your own."
