Insulation is part of a complete #VirtualPowerPlant, generating long-term demand capacity. Similar to how solar generates electricity when the sun is out, or wind when it blows, insulation generates #demandflexibility when it is hot and cold. #energytwitter discuss.

Do you remember the Sick Building Syndrome in the 1970s? It came from buildings getting too wet and not having enough outdoor air piped in. With the IRA heat pump incentives rolling out, we're almost certain to see a resurgence of it. A 🧵

Another great example of turning an old commieblock into a energy-efficient one: this time in Zwoleń. Energy costs dropped by 90%, and residents also got AC. Total cost of the renovation came up to PLN 3.2M ($650k).

It’s my strongly held belief that deep building efficiency, specifically in residences, is an ethical matter. We promote and advance the health, safety, & welfare of the public. Especially under climate change, buildings that can’t keep you safe in a power outage violate that.

"Construction projects are undertaken within a legal and regulatory system that presents persistent, costly obstacles, while projects are being overseen by agencies who lack the resources and in some cases even the expertise to manage them."

"Energy Efficiency is a win, win, win. It helps us towards a high level of energy security, it helps us save the climate & we will make money doing it. The potential is huge", said @DanJoergensen at the Opening Plenary of the @IEA's conference. youtu.be/Uq3B4tlFPCQ #WhyEE

Process improvement and feedback loops. My experience has been that the difference between “doing a task” and “doing a task well” is about 15 minutes spent in either the planning or execution
What role does language play in reducing errors on #construction projects? A theme in GIRI’s work is to instill a common understanding of why errors occur. This requires a common language – simple messages that are easy to understand and act on. bit.ly/3BT0lve

The current way we heat & cool our homes isn’t only expensive, it contributes to #climatechange. To make matters worse, research shows that fossil fuel appliances contribute to harmful indoor air pollution, driving asthma & other serious health conditions. yaleclimateconnections.org/2…

I never do this. But @mindomo is the best tool I have ever used. Every team in our organization has found amazing ways to work with it. So simple to use, it’s been a game changer for us.

How are developers - providing housing that benefits the city - supposed to continually shoulder these costs, while everyone wonders why housing costs are escalating? Streamline permitting. Organize processes. Jettison stupid bureaucracy. Keep good rules in place. Let us BUILD.
