Purveyor of persiflage. Bad jokes and boring tweets about vintage tools, woodworking, guns, marksmanship, and amateur radio. That tweet was sarcasm, dummy.

Me all summer: I need to get that done but it鈥檚 way too hot outside. I will wait until the weather cools off. Me in late October: Oh no.

As a new postdoc in 2004 who'd used UNIX and Macs for years, I had to use Windows for two weeks while waiting for my PowerMac G5 to arrive. It felt like I'd been transformed into a staid office drone punching a timeclock, and I'm pleased to report all computers are like this now.
Computers might have been fun once. They鈥檙e not fun anymore.

"new hardware is better!" that's as may be. At home I have an M1 MacBook Pro that only gets used to compile software releases. It's fast and has great battery life but the interface is visual AIDS, so I use my 10 year-old MacBook Pro with Mojave for everything else.

Really feeling the need for a vacation. It's so important to just get away and look at your phone somewhere new.

Being a baby must be wild. You fall asleep crapping yourself in the living room, and then wake up in a restaurant. It鈥檚 pretty much being drunk in reverse.

"University researchers built a satellite that tracks people from low Earth orbit and dispatches a 5 kg payload to within .1 meter of their position, traveling at Mach 25 to anywhere on Earth in under 5 minutes. They suggest it could be used to deliver greeting cards."
Purdue University's IDEAS Lab built an autonomous drone that tracks runners through dense forests completely without GPS or cloud networks. By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time. Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI.

Made dinner last night while the ol' woman and daughter #2 were driving home across the state. "YOU made dinner?" love all the histrionic responses from my stupid family, as if I'm not sensitive and caring.

Scratch mac and cheese with Andouille sausage in it for those curious (and Panko on top, obvs). Possibly should have looked at a recipe, but it's only been, uh, 24.5 years since I last made it.

You can give him a pocket knife to carve a more comfortable handle, as far as I'm concerned! Just leave the maker's mark to confuse archaeologists.
Probably not the most ideal picture @galooticus wants to see, but I promise it never touched the ground. Time to take this saw for a test drive!

Removed lift cover. Differential ring and pinion at top, multipower/auxiliary hydraulic pump at lower right, and lift pump underneath the aux pump. Rock shafts have, uh, leaked grease over the decades.

I need to drill and helicoil the lift cover, since one of the seat bolt holes is wallered out. Unfortunately it's a thru hole and drill & tap filings do not belong in a differential.
