Just find all the poppy stuff depressing now considering the state of the world. I think about the relative that died in WWI, aged 18, in the same battle as Kipling's son, a few days after being shipped out.

Not followed the trial in depth, but from what I had read I thought he was going to get away with despite being an obvious wrong-un. (Though in retrospect the defense summoning up did sound a bit desperate)
