after watching 2 days of Polkadot Decoded, i can boldly say that Polkadot has never been in better shape for world domination.
this transcends the big announcements. it’s all in the details: the structure of the community and organization that surrounds Polkadot at this moment in time.
> Parity is focused on engineering tasks, excelling in this area as proven by the announcements of Polkadot App and Polkadot Pay by @bjornwgnr (Parity CEO). these apps make onboarding easy (even for my mother) with compatibility for Apple and Google systems, staking, and the ability to buy from 1m+ stores and earn DOT as cashback.
i’m still astonished that this will be released in only a few months 🤯
> Pierre (Parity CTO) is focused on making Polkadot great. his talk was my favorite part of Decoded. his dedication to ensuring Polkadot's reliability for businesses, developers, and users is exactly what Polkadot needs right now.
the panel with representatives from Centrifuge, Moonbeam, Parity and other parachain teams confirmed that they are already benefiting from this heightened focus on protocol stability.
> Gavin is back to doing what he loves (research and coding), as shown in his keynote speech focusing on a secret project: fixing sybil resistance in Web3.
> the Web3 Foundation is taking off the gloves. this is evident in the launch of the Decentralized Futures and Voices initiatives. this aligns with Parity's refocus on technical development, meaning Polkadot is becoming a true starfish organization.
> the community is stepping up significantly via OpenGov, exemplified by @alice_und_bob’s session on The Possibility and Importance of Decentralized Strategy (my title) and recent events in the community, with the Treasury report being the most notable.
another aspect is @polk_gov evolving OpenGov into the easiest-to-use complex governance process, with an interesting social dynamic. They are achieving this through various updates like user profiles, leaderboards, notifications, reputation, timelines, and more.
***
there were a lot of updates at Decoded that should make the Polkadot community bullish. i will post a more detailed breakdown. i was just moved to post this right now.

Protecting Every Vote. Winning 2027. Together.
My fellow Nigerians at home and abroad,
Over the past months, wherever I go and in your many messages, two questions keep coming up: How will our votes be protected in 2027? And how will we win?
These are fair questions, and you deserve direct answers.
This Sunday, I will answer you directly, and more importantly, listen to you. I will join you for A New Nigeria Global Digital Townhall. We will speak plainly about protecting every vote and the path to victory.
But this is not only about speaking to you. It is about listening to you. I want to hear your concerns, your insights and your strategies. This movement has always been built by you, and your ideas will shape what we do next.
Sunday, October 4, 2026

Let us continue this conversation together. A New Nigeria is POSSIBLE. -PO

Study geopolitics long enough and you stop looking for the good guys. Every actor on the board is protecting something it owns. Countries, sponsors, companies, all of them moving to keep what they have.
No country wants you better off because it cares about you. Nobody stops a war out of concern for innocent civilians. When they use that language, listen for what they want.
War is an industry with shareholders. Global military spending hit a record $2.887 trillion in 2025, the eleventh straight annual increase. The hundred largest arms companies booked $679 billion in 2024, the highest figure SIPRI has ever recorded, up 26 percent in a decade. A Czech firm, Czechoslovak Group, grew its arms revenue by 193 percent in one year making artillery shells for Ukraine. Your ally's help is somebody's order book.
Insecurity has suppliers. A ragtag militia does not stumble onto AK-47s and anti-tank missiles in the bush. Every rifle left a factory with a serial number on it. Somebody shipped it. Somebody signed an end-user certificate swearing it was bound for a legitimate army, and SIPRI found export certification practices deeply inconsistent, which is the polite way of saying the paperwork is a formality.
The guns often come from closer to home than you think. Conflict Armament Research examined weapons seized from jihadist groups in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger between 2015 and 2023. At least one fifth had been diverted from the state custody of eight North and West African countries. They came out of government armouries. And after Libya collapsed in 2011, weapons looted from Gaddafi's stockpiles turned up with armed groups in Mali, Niger, Chad, Cote d'Ivoire, the Central African Republic and Syria. A war Africa did not start is still killing Africans fifteen years later.
We have had years of financial sanctions on terror organisations, and the weapons keep arriving. The money never touches the banks anyone is watching. Artisanal mines in JNIM's areas produce up to 725 kilograms of gold a year, worth roughly $34 million, moving out through the UAE, Turkey and Switzerland. Between 2017 and 2023 the group carried out 845 of the 1,100 recorded kidnappings across Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger. In Youwarou district in Mali, cattle theft alone brought in $739,200 in 2021. Gold, ransoms, livestock, fuel, cigarettes. Cash that walks across a border and never becomes a wire transfer.
Geopolitics deserves serious attention from anyone who wants their country back. That means dropping the emotional defence when our favourites get caught. They did it to protect their interests. Their rivals do the same. Morality is what states say. Interest is what they do.
Stop reading the press release. Follow the money instead.

There's a structure being formed ahead of the 2027 elections to take back our country. If you want to be a part of those making things happen, you should join the structure!

Dario has written that we need to “pace the frontier,” and Sam has agreed. People may be surprised by my response: go ahead.
You guys are the frontier. By any reasonable metric — market share, revenue growth, model capability — the two of you have a duopoly on frontier intelligence. You’ve also claimed the lead is widening because of recursive self-improvement.
I don’t see what you see in the lab. If the unreleased models are scary enough that you think you should slow down, I support your decision to be responsible.
But stop pretending you need anyone else’s permission. Stop pretending antitrust law has to be suspended so you can form a cartel. Stop pretending you need a regulatory approval process that supersedes product liability. Stop pretending METR is independent when it is intertwined with Anthropic’s investors and staff. Stop pretending you need those same evaluators to police competitors who aren’t even at the frontier.
Most of all, stop pretending the motivation to slow down is purely altruistic. You face massive product-liability exposure if your products enable a truly damaging cyberattack. The market already punishes models that behave in unpredictable or unauthorized ways. After the Hugging Face episode, it is simply good business for OpenAI and Anthropic to trade some raw power for reliability and predictability. Call it alignment if you want. It is also just giving customers what they want.
Pacing the frontier would also create breathing room for a more intelligent conversation about regulation than Bernie Sanders’ “shut it all down.” China is very unlikely to join a global agreement, as you know, and that has to be taken into account as well.
So go ahead and pace the frontier. You are the ones setting it. The easiest way not to build superintelligence is for you to agree not to build it. Demanding your preferred regulatory framework as the price of that will look like blackmail of the public and the political system. So just do it.
If you do, you’ll buy goodwill for the next conversation. If you don’t, we’ll know this was just another bid for regulatory capture — or an election-season psyop.

🚨 Two years ago, I was detained in Paris by police for 3 days — the longest they can hold someone before charging them.
In an unprecedented move, French authorities accused the head of a major platform of crimes committed by its users.
That investigation is still ongoing, although it makes less sense with each passing year.
Why?
Because we now have extensive evidence that Telegram was neither worse than other popular platforms at moderation, nor the worst at cooperating with authorities.
So why was Telegram singled out?
Over the last two years, we have seen a pattern emerge in multiple countries: Telegram is quietly asked to grant political favors — such as illegal censorship or surveillance. When we refuse, local media and “non-governmental” organizations launch orchestrated campaigns portraying Telegram as a cesspool of crime, from child pornography to terrorism.
Our moderation is no worse than that of other major platforms. Yet these campaigns instill the idea that Telegram should be persecuted or restricted.
Suddenly, officials start caring about crime and protecting children — but only on platforms that reject their secret political demands. Platforms that accept such deals get away with almost anything — including literally selling ads promoting child pornography.
Is the French investigation against me political? It certainly fits the pattern we see elsewhere, mostly in authoritarian countries. And it definitely raises questions.
In time, this investigation may itself be investigated — especially now that Macron’s war against free speech is facing pushback. This month, France’s Constitutional Council struck down his social media ban for children under 15 on freedom-of-expression grounds.
In the end, freedom and truth will prevail ✊

Included a public editorial guide. I realize the reason why many of you are maligning this is because I didn’t share the editorial guide.
I’ve spent the past couple of weeks building Looters: a public archive of Nigerian political corruption since the 1990s.
Governors, ministers, shell companies, Swiss accounts, the Jersey trusts, — one searchable graph.
You too can connect the dots: 1000reasons.vote/looters
