If a group of poor people did what Ycombinator companies do, it would be called “check kiting,” and they would go to prison.
So, Netanyahu won.
He's already been prime minister for 25% of the time Israel has been a country.
And yet liberals continue to act like he's some kind aberration who doesn't represent the country's true nature.
Israel’s Central Elections Committee has released the final election results, with Likud leading on 27 seats, followed by Yashar with 21. The pro-Netanyahu bloc secured 53 seats, the opposition 48 and Arab parties 19. Turnout reached 77.9%.
The results will be submitted to President Herzog on November 4, ahead of the new Knesset’s swearing-in on November 10.

Gov. Kathy Hochul reveals the deal made with NYC Mayor Mamdani prior to taking office, privately meeting with him to let the then mayor-elect know that her endorsement was contingent on keeping Jessica Tisch as police commissioner:
HOCHUL: “It was important to me before I supported him. He knew that”
POLITICO: “That was something you talked about privately with him…”
HOCHUL: “Before the endorsement… It’s important that she stays, and before I would support, it was important to have a commitment or understanding that this is very important”
POLITICO: “But now there’s a questions of how long that commitment lasts though”
HOCHUL: “It’s going to work”
POLITICO: “It will? Like months, years? What do you think?”
HOCHUL: “As long as the commissioner wants”

NEW: On Friday, dockworkers at 111 ports in 22 countries and regions on five continents will stop work in a coordinated strike against war, according to the most recent information from the organizing unions.
More than 25 dockworkers’ unions have now signed on, from Marseille to Mumbai, Hamburg to Montevideo, Melbourne to Oakland. Days ago the count stood at about 100 ports in 17 countries, and that figure doesn’t include the dozens of unions in other sectors that have pledged support. Their demand is simple: no weapons and no military cargo through their ports. Nearly everything the world ships passes through the docks, and without the workers who load and unload it, nothing moves.
In France, the main dockers’ union says the country’s ports will be 95% shut. Italy, India, Greece and Turkey face 24-hour strikes, and Morocco and Cyprus will see stoppages of up to two hours, with rallies planned in port cities around the world. In Greece, metalworkers, ship-repair workers and young people are joining the dockers, and in the US, ILWU Local 10 is striking in Oakland and San Francisco. The unions are working from the Istanbul Declaration, signed in May, with each one deciding for itself how to take part. They are also fighting for their own jobs, against cuts from automation and for contracts, raises, shorter hours and safety.
The unions point to escalating wars in Ukraine and the Middle East and the danger of a generalized war. They condemn Israel’s new crimes in Hebron, carried out with the backing of the US, NATO and the EU. Israel’s lockdown of the city is now in its sixth day, with more than 3,000 Palestinians displaced, according to the UN. Palestinian unions have endorsed Friday’s action.
In Italy, the fight has spilled beyond the docks. The union USB has called for a nationwide general strike. Last night, the Italian government ordered transport workers back on the job last night. USB said it would defy the order and accept the steep penalties.
The unions are calling on workers and young people everywhere to stand with the dockworkers, saying “Ports for peace and the peoples, not launching pads for war.”
I’m reporting from Calabria, Italy, and I will be in Genoa tomorrow ahead of the strike to report on the ground during the mobilzation.

Ehab Jameel Lutfi Abu Taqiya, known as Omair, was a critical part of The Sameer Project from the start. He was a close friend of Mosab Ali, and now they are reunited.
Omair is now a martyr, he was killed this morning by the military occupation. He was killed right after he spent his morning setting up tents and fixing a water well with other team members to serve his people.
The Sameer Project team is devastated, our hearts are broken. But for Omair, Mosab and Ameen, we keep going.
Pray for our beloved Omair 🤲🏽

I am alive and free.
Settlers tried to kill us because we caught them locking several Palestinian communities from leaving their homes - very illegally, even by Israeli occupation's laws.
I'm concussed and very tired, so I'll tell the story tomorrow.

‼️ BREAKING: PolymarkeT users were drained through its own website.
A hijacked DebugBear monitoring script sold users' positions and sent ~$2.6M to one wallet.
Polymarket halted trading and says victims will be made whole. The wallet has since been emptied.
Someone has stolen $5 billion & counting from one of the leading cryptocurrency platforms, and they haven’t fixed whatever vulnerability the hackers are exploiting.
The existence of ai coding tools is incompatible with a secure internet, and I don’t know what we can do about it.
Yet unconfirmed, but possibly there is a massive binance hack happening right now.
It looks like a @binance wallet has been drained into new address. Contract call was funded by Tornado Cash.

🚨 Israeli forces have detained three Palestinians returning to Gaza through the Rafah crossing, with the complicity of the EU border mission.
The detainees are Shukri Nihad Kamel Ghazal, Mohammad Raed Munir Al-Najjar, and Mohammad Kamal Kamel Akkila.
And not a single one of the Jewish parties will form a coalition with them, even though they’d have to in order to have a majority.
Eisenkot — “the opposition” — is choosing to not become prime minister rather than allow Palestinians to have a say in Israel’s government.

americans are so propagandized they believe your employer should fire you if you have cancer
European hiring rules are genuinely insane.
For example - if you own a company in the Netherlands and one of your employees gets sick, you are required to pay at least 70% of their wages for up to 2 years.
If they can't go back to work after 2 years and you haven't done enough for their reintegration, you pay their wages for 1 more year. And you can't fire them until after that extra year!
