Ah, yes. A whole weekend catching up on @ScarleYonaguni streams. Gonna be a good 48 hours #NijisanjiEn #ScarleYonaguni #ScarleLewd
This is the dumbest, most retarded thing I've sadly had to read. My dear, you really must read about the history of the Trans-Saharan Slave Trade before you start looking at countries that adopted you, educated you, and clothed you, before you deficate in the hands of your good countries' honor.
As an immigrant in America, the fight for reparations is near and dear to my heart. Living here, I have witnessed firsthand the deep, generational wounds borne by my African-American brothers and sisters, and I see clearly how justly they deserve restitution. This struggle does not stop at the U.S. border. The exact same historical trauma and structural theft connect Black Americans to my brothers and sisters in the UK and the Caribbean. I refuse to stay silent on the British debate because the global ledger of empire extracted its wealth from the exact same roots, and the demand for accountability is universal. With that global struggle in mind, let’s explore exactly why Kemi Badenoch’s perspective is so deeply and fundamentally flawed.
The Reductio ad Absurdum of "Inter-Generational Responsibility"
Badenoch asserts that modern British taxpayers should not be held financially responsible for historical actions. However, this argument ignores how modern state identity and sovereign wealth operate. Nations routinely inherit both the historical assets and liabilities of their predecessors. The British state structurally benefited from the immense wealth generated by the transatlantic slave trade—capital that funded the Industrial Revolution, built public infrastructure, and established global financial hegemony.
Furthermore, if we accept the logic that the present generation bears no relationship to the past, the UK state would have to forfeit its claims to historic cultural assets, global institutional privileges, and colonial wealth. If a state can inherit the structural dividends of empire, it logically inherits the structural debts of that same history.
The False Equivalence of "Global Welfare" vs. Reparative Justice
Framing debt relief or structural economic adjustments as "global welfare" mischaracterizes the nature of the Commonwealth's demands. Welfare is discretionary charity; reparations are a legal and ethical framework for addressing unjust enrichment. When Britain abolished slavery in 1833, the state did not provide "welfare" to the emancipated; instead, it paid £20 million in compensation to slave owners—a massive sum funded by government loans that British taxpayers did not finish paying off until 2015. If modern taxpayers could spend 182 years paying off the debts owed to slave owners, it is rhetorically dishonest to claim that addressing the enduring structural disadvantages of the slave system is suddenly an unfair burden on the public.
The Contradiction on "Honest History"
I love how Badenoch calls for an "honest" approach to history, yet she immediately engages in selective curation by emphasizing "Britain's leading role in ending the transatlantic slave trade." True historical honesty requires acknowledging that Britain could not have "led the fight to end" a trade that it spent more than a century dominating and industrializing. Celebrating the arsonist for eventually helping to extinguish the fire is not historical honesty; it is political convenience.

When 80 years of White guilt and anti-Christian propaganda wears off and you remember who the fuck you are:
Erm. Cool. But I've got to ask you: since when has Britain had a Black History Month? When did we start "Celebrating it," and why should we, as a country, care?
Elmina Castle was built by the Portuguese in 1482, seized by the Dutch in 1637, and acquired by Britain only in 1872—after Britain abolished the slave trade in 1807.
Should've paid more attention to history, fucking loser!
Having just left Elmina Castle in Ghana, where enslaved Africans were imprisoned before being shipped across the Atlantic, I think Europeans should never tire of acknowledging the horrors of our shared history and asking forgiveness from our African friends.
Britain played its own shameful part in that history.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Elmina Castle was built by the Portuguese in 1482, seized by the Dutch in 1637 and acquired by Britain only in 1872—after Britain abolished the slave trade in 1807. Africans captured in wars and raids supplied most enslaved people sold to Europeans at such coastal forts.
