I’ve read the research about the long-term harms of repeated COVID infections - none of it is good.
For me, it’s therefore worth the minor inconvenience of wearing a mask in public spaces to reduce my risk.

Meanwhile every week the Ford govt literally lays off hundreds of nurses at [insert hospital here].

Ontario’s hallway health care numbers have hit unprecedented highs:
On an average day in Jan 2025, Ontario hospitals treated 2,088 patients in hallways, break rooms and other spaces never meant for care.
It was the most since Ontario Health began tracking the number in 2017 and 52 per cent more than January 2018, the winter before Doug Ford won a majority government promising to end hallway health care.

I predict that one day soon, provinces will de-list joint replacement surgery or at least narrow the number of eligible patients. For everyone else, they'll say, "pay for it yourself." This is just a prediction. I have no inside knowledge and think that would be a travesty.
