September was tough.
📈 Fashion sales September 2022: 6.7% growth
📉 Fashion sales September 2023: 3.4% fall
Yet @thesolesupplier Marketplace had its best month yet:
> Revenue up 103% MoM.
> 46% increase in new listings MoM
> 96% increase in orders MoM
This isn't a brag.
It’s proof that product diversification is key.
Having one sector flourish whilst the other faces a tough time enables you to survive (and even thrive) in the struggle.
Every day we've been focused on...
- Releasing new features for buyers and sellers (Klarna coming soon)
- Offering intelligence for sellers to help them drive more sales
- Integrating the marketplace further into our social strategy
Rough times in business are inevitable.
Put your audience first and you’ll get through it.
2 weeks ago my mind was blown! 🤯
I attended an AI workshop with Push Group.
10 takeaways that got me thinking:
#5 Murf.AI allows you to create AI-generated voices for content
#6 AI summary tools like 'Zoom Summary' are very effective
#7 Creative in paid ads is key (as AI can do the rest)
#8 AI is perfect for competitor analysis if applied effectively
I closed down 4 different businesses.
2 before they even started 🤣
But I knew I was onto something with @thesolesupplier
because...
👉🏼 I validated my idea
Ask yourself:
1. Is this financially viable?
2. Do I have the time to commit?
3. What's my fallback if it doesn't work?
Then make your decision.
Otherwise, it's a high risk game you're playing.
I've hired 100+ people in the last 10 years.
I couldn’t tell you who does or doesn't have a degree.
For the work we do, it doesn't matter 🤷🏻
INSTEAD, I look for these 5 things.
#1 If they treat everyone (no matter the seniority) with kindness
#2 Their attitude when facing hard times
#3 If they have a strong work ethic and hunger to learn #4 Examples of their skills (from a job or in their free time)
#5 Passion for their role or the sneaker community
To find these, ask good questions and give people a chance to show examples from real-life situations.
Everyone working at The Sole Supplier today has two things:
1) Hunger and intuition to learn and do the job well.
2) The traits required to be good team players.
And that is what most employers are looking for!
Let the battle commence 👀
In my latest YouTube video Dan and I go head to head to find out who's the REAL sneaker king.
(Spoiler: It gets a bit heated 😅🔥)

My ADHD hasn't affected me for 8+ years.
I've trained my brain to almost 'overcome' it.
Here are 8 things I do that help ⬇
5. Set a 30-minute timer for each task.
6. Let others know when I'm going into focus mode.
7. Get good sleep (time & quality).
8. Stay hydrated at all times.
It's nothing mindblowing.
You don't need to spend £££ on fancy 'productivity' gadgets.
Find tricks that...
2013: £3K left to make a failing website work
2023: That website makes us over £400k a month
6 months into building @thesolesupplier, I wanted to give up.
I'd grafted evenings and weekends but saw no movement.
Then we got a number 1 ranking for the 'Triple Black Huaraches'.
We made £3000+ in a few days 🤯
That was the proof I needed to keep going.
When faced with adversity it usually means you're about to level up.
Whether it's...
- Pushing hard for that promotion
- Smashing out that extra rep in the gym
- Trying for investment once more
If it was easy, everyone would do it.
This is a sign if you're about to give up.
Give it one last shot 👊🏻
8 years ago I hired my best friend of 25 years.
Today he is @thesolesupplier CMO.
People say "you should never mix business and friendship."
I disagree 👎🏼
🤝 We had the same values & morals
🤝 We had the same goals & ambitions
🤝 We had skills that complimented each other
If it does work, it can be a beautiful thing!

Nothing is left out.

At 16 👉🏻 washing pots in my local Harvester.
At 20 👉🏻 knocking door-to-door selling websites
At 21 👉🏻 buying cheap trainers to resell on eBay.
I had 10+ different jobs (and 1 week businesses) before starting @thesolesupplier.
It's good to try different things.
If you're just starting out your career and don't know what you want to do yet, there's no shame in trialling things.
- Figure out what you enjoy
- Discover what you're good at
- Pick up transferable skills
Don't get pressured into your family's vision for you or “hustle culture” if you're not ready.
As long as you're earning and/or learning...
That experience is good experience.
