latest jobs report data confirms what we’ve heard anecdotally & data published to date. This crisis is disproportionately punishing working women - with domestic/childcare falling on their shoulders at a pace that makes integrating families and home more challenging than ever

How are you approaching this issue? how are you innovating your policies & structures to support caregivers? Backup care, while helpful in “normal times” falls short in covid. We have a pod matching pilot up in Boston. If you’re a Boston based co - reach out. We can help
Imagine telling a 36-year-old with 2 young children, a working spouse and little to no childcare that they need to report back to the office during a pandemic. I’m sure they’ll make it work.

We agree. It can be frustrating- the failed log-ins, the shifting schedules, the general headache that is distance learning but many teachers are innovating and expanding how they teach out of their passion to help our children and future generations. Let’s give them our thanks

The question on all of our minds. The answer is this is the greatest challenge facing us now. A mix of scheduling, set-up & structure, getting your work in whenever you can and accepting exhaustion. Ideally solid comms with your team & mgr about KPIs/outcome focused work

What's wrong with this picture? >1/3 dads w. kids at home were promoted while WFH, 26% got a raise. But only 9% of moms were promoted, just 13% got a raise? upnewsinfo.com/2020/08/28/mo…

The authors found that employers often jump to the conclusion that moms are “less dedicated” to their jobs—despite the endless research that shows that childcare duties and other WFH disruptions tend to fall disproportionately to women.
This is a very important thread
Today my daughter turns 6 weeks old. That’s how young some babies are when they go into daycare cause their moms don’t get maternity leave.
A powerful perspective @Nikesha_Elise "This pandemic... stands to erode decades of equality gains...an entire generation of children who are likely to get left behind intellectually when their mothers are faced with the impossible choice: educate, or eat? bit.ly/3jafmz1

In case you needed a reminder that "All the choices stink...There is a lot of stress, a lot of anxiety. Parents tell me about not being able to sleep because they’re so anxious" Yet again, another amazing piece by @clairecm nytimes.com/2020/08/19/upsho…

This is the reality of working parents today & it's a KEY risk for co's. If 30-40% of your workforce are parents & 50% of them say it's impossible to #wfh and teach simultaneously you have a big problem. Co's must find ways to extend holistic support to these critical employees

Excellent piece @WSJ on the current reality of working parents and what it means for our economy. Rising costs of care and erratic at best school set-ups present parents a fundamental issue for american society @laurenweberWSJ wsj.com/articles/working-par…

For parents with older children the issue is equally complicated

So here we are as working moms. Stretched so far beyond our limits we don’t even remember where the limits are. Knowing that every day the odds that we’ll have to leave work are increasing, and that if we do, the chances of coming back in are low.

We can’t even make a painful, agonizing choice about work or childcare without being told we’re wrong. If we’re all wrong, if every choice one of us makes is subject to criticism, then who is right?
